This week we have the honour to host Sir William Patey, former British Ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Sudan. This event, taking place on Friday, replaces our weekly Thursday meeting. Please find your complete society update below:
 
Lecture by Sir William Patey - Friday, November 9th, 6:30pm to 8:00pm, Playfair Library Hall, Old College
The lecture titled "The Military Interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan" is ticketed and free for society members. Please reserve a space at  http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/4656335224

Lecture by Ben Judah - Friday,  November 16th, 6:00pm to 7:30pm, Lecture Theatre 175, Old College
PIR Society and the Scotland-Russia Forum will be co-hosting this lecture with the title "How Far Can Russia's New Opposition Go?". Ben Judah is the author of "Fragile Empire: How Russia Fell In And Out Of Love With Vladimir Putin" (to be published in 2013) and is an Associate Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations. The event is free of charge and there is no need to register for it.
