Dear all,
Here is your update for the week:
Weekly Meeting - Thursday, October 11th, 7pm to 9pm, in Seminar Room 3, Chrystal Macmillan Building
This week we are having a PIR Forum, where we will be discussing two major events that may change the political course of two countries:
1) Somalia: First stable government in 21 years takes control over key towns and
2) Venezuelan Presidential Election: United opposition challenges Chavez's 3rd term
After the event everyone is invited to join us at Malone's for free food, chat and drinks.
All are welcome. We are inviting potential writers, editors, illustrators, graphic designers, and fundraisers/marketers to join our team. You do not need to have any prior experience in journalism--nor do you need to be studying politics--to get involved.
(Freshers) Essay Surgery - Wednesday, October 10th, 2pm to 4pm, Location (tba)
This is an event traditionally hosted by the society and particularily aimed at first year students of Politics and International Relations. The surgery is a 2 hour basics workshop on essay writing when you will have the chance to speak to Politics students in years above about your IPIR essay. Students are invited to bring their essay outlines/drafts along, so we can have a look at them and give you specific tips on how to improve your work. The exact location is still to be announced.
MembershipIf you are enjoying the society and would like to become a member you can sign up for our year membership for only £3 with one of the Committe Members at any PIR Soc Event.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events,
Valerie Greitens
