The entire set of Emoji codes as defined by the Unicode consortiumis supported in addition to a bunch of aliases. Bydefault, only the official list is enabled but doing emoji.emojize(language='alias') enablesboth the full list and aliases.

I found a very funny thing. Obsidian perfectly perceives emojis in notes. You can also use emojis to search for notes.
So you can add to the text, for example , to mark ideas. And then just search to find all the notes with ideas.
Exactly works in Windows 10. To insert an Emoji, click win+"."

This page describes the process and requirements for submitting a proposal for new emoji characters or emoji sequences, including how to submit a proposal, the selection factors that need to be addressed in each proposal, and Guidelines on presenting evidence of frequency.

Emoji submissions are open to the general public, but only a small percentage are accepted for encoding. The Submission needs to be complete and meet the criteria (that is, well-formed) for it to be reviewed. Submissions proposing to emojify existing Unicode characters will not be accepted. If your concept does not require color, consider proposing it as a Unicode character here.

The Consortium licenses its standards openly and freely under various open-source licenses found here and here. Under these licenses, vendors implement encoded emoji into their products to be used all over the world. Therefore, once an emoji is encoded, it can never be removed. For this reason, the Consortium requires a broad perpetual license in any rights you or others may have in your proposed emoji.

To submit a proposal for a new emoji, please prepare a document according to the Format for Emoji Proposals section below. Your document must contain all of the sections shown in the form, and should address all of the items specified there as completely as possible.

The committee will assign code points and fill out the Proposal Summary Form later in the process. The original proposal may then be amended to include those, as was done with the Food emoji characters example below.

The goal of this section of your proposal is to gather information that can be used to assess the expected usage level for the new emoji. There is no perfect way to do this, but you are expected to supply the following data to help the Emoji Subcommittee assess your proposal.

"Emoji" is defined as any small images, icons, or symbols used in text messages, social media, email, or any other text fields in electronic communication. Users use them to express their emotional attitude, give information quickly and clearly, exchange messages playfully with no words, and more.
Do you know that the word "emoji" is made up of two Japanese words: picture (e) and character (moji)? What a surprise, right?

As of September 2021, there are a total of 3,633 emojis in the Unicode Standard. What a huge number! And certainly, the number of emojis available right now is higher than that. In the future, there will be more and more emojis launched for us to use.

Update: By adding \def\emojione\scalerel*\includegraphics1F4D5.pdfX in the preamble with the respective PDF file, I am able to use emoji in the body text. However, if I put \emojione in the chapter title, it returns several errors.

I'm trying to display emoji characters in my chapter headings. I have tried numerous solutions, all of which do not work. I came across solutions for XeLaTeX, but unfortunately it is not compatible with other commands in my document. As for pdflatex, I came across this which seems to be the most promising, however it only displays the Unicode name and not the character itself. I also came across this package, however the installation fails.

An emoji pack is a set of custom emoji created just for Slack that you can add to your workspace. Like other custom emoji, emoji packs will appear can be accessed from the Slack icon in the emoji picker.

This feature would make a massive difference! Is there a potential workaround? Many applications use dropbox to host files that get synced across devices, and having emojis in folder and file names is a really big part of my and many others' workflows.

After updating to Sonoma, I noticed that macOS has changed the function of the "globe"/function key or CMD + Shift + Spacebar shortcut to summon a "smart" emoji picker with two or three suggested emoji.

Unfortunately, it usually guesses wrong, based on the last word I typed, which often isn't relevant to the emoji I'd to use. I find this annoying, and would rather have the globe key summon the "dumb" emoji picker like it did on Ventura, saving the step of clicking the down arrow every time.

+1 for this. I detest the emoji suggestions. The main reason it is broken for me is that I often want to use an emoji that is expressive of an emotion or entire sentence at the end of the sentence, but the emoji picker only suggests emoji for the last word typed. If you do the Ctrl + CMD + space shortcut twice, the full picker comes up, but why should I have to add another step? ? This should be optional.

Findings In this qualitative study of 1319 clinical text message threads, 7% of threads contained an emoji or emoticon. The emoji and emoticons primarily added emotive content (61%) and/or served to open, maintain, or close channels of communication (32%).

Main Outcomes Whether and what kind of emoji or emoticon was deployed in each reviewed thread was tabulated by the study team. The communicative function of each emoji and emoticon was assessed according to a prespecified coding scheme.

Results A total of 80 hospitalists (49 [61%] male; 30 [37%] Asian, 5 [6%] Black or African American, 2 [3%] Hispanic or Latinx, 42 [53%] White; of 41 with age data, 13 [32%] aged 25-34 years, 19 [46%] aged 35-44 years) participated in the 1319 candidate threads. Within the sample of 1319 threads, 7% of threads (155 unique messages) contained at least 1 emoji or emoticon. The majority (94 [61%]) functioned emotively, that is, conveyed the internal state of the sender, and 49 (32%) served to open, maintain, or close communication. No evidence was identified that they caused confusion or were seen as inappropriate.

Conclusions and Relevance This qualitative study found that when clinicians use emoji and emoticons in secure clinical texting systems, these symbols function primarily to convey new and interactionally salient information. These results suggest that concerns about the professionalism of emoji and emoticon use may be unwarranted.

I dislike OS X's set of emoji (mainly, it's too difficult to tell what they are at a glance, esp. at small sizes). I like Google's set of emoji. Is there any way I can use Google's emoji set as my OS X system-wide emoji set?

Mac OS Instructions: Using the latest OS (El Capitan), I was able to load this emoji file in less than a minute. The original emoji ttf is located in system/library/fonts, do not touch this. You can safely upload the renamed file (from emojione-apple.ttf, to Apple Color Emoji.ttf) to the /library/fonts folder. That file will override the default. This was my experience, but yours may vary.

Edit: As pointed out by Evan Purkhiser in the comments, all you need to do is download the Emoji One Apple font file, rename it to Apple Color Emoji.ttf, and save it in /Library/Fonts to override the system emoji. I just tried this on Sierra and it worked immediately.

I could go on. I really could. I could talk about the sad state of browser support for color fonts, or how to avoid mismatched emoji fonts in Firefox, or subtle issues with measuring emoji width on Windows, or how you need to install a separate package for emoji to work at all in Chrome on Linux.

Earlier this week Microsoft announced that they have begun to roll out their latest update to Windows 11. Entitled 23H2, this update changes Microsoft's emoji support in two major ways: by adding 2022's Emoji 15.0 recommendations across Windows 11 and by integrating the glossy 3D Fluent emoji designs across a select flagship Microsoft applications.

The flat block-color Fluent emoji designs shown above are still the core emoji set used within most applications following this update. However, a long-anticipated emoji feature has made its debut within Windows 11 23H2.

Applications within the Microsoft Office Suite such as Word and PowerPoint are now using the 3D Fluent emoji designs that were initially previewed ahead of World Emoji Day in 2021 and have been used by Microsoft Teams since February 2022.

Several previously released emoji designs within the flat Fluent set have been revised within the 23H2 update. Many of these designs are from the smiley emoji category, where several emojis have had their eyes subtly reworked.
