A month ago I migrated my broadband connection from Pipex to f2s.
I never set up a new f2s email account since the pipex one was fully
functional and everyone knew me at that address.
Tonight I've tried to access the account through both outlook POP3 and
direct through Pipex netmail and in both cases my account says the user
details / password is invalid.
Is it the case that Pipex "freeze" your account if you are no longer
paying them a monthly subscription? It seems strange my access is
stopped what is, I believe, exactly 1 month after I migrated, or is
there something else I'm missing??
I've now set up a f2s email account, but would like to know how I can
get access to the emails that are sitting for me on my pipex address.
Your help is much appreciated folks :-)

The short answer is no, you can't access the email, they will have removed
and killed it after a month. If you try sending a test email to the Pipex
account you will find it no longer exists.

You stop paying Pipex and expect them to keep your email account open?

Hmm.

Too late now, but you can downgrade to a minimum fee so that the email
addresses stay active.

But if you do that, be careful. Be very very careful.

I asked then to maintain my Dial addresses when I went DSL. They did.
But failed to reduce the fee. I complained. They reduced the fee and
killed the account. (On a Friday evening of course, leaving me in a
long queue on Saturday morning.) I complained. They restored the
account and, I later discovered, started charging the full fee again.
I complained by phone. Again they said they would just charge me the
minimum fee. They lied and kept charging the full fee. When I
discovered this, again, I complained by phone and fax. They said they
would sort it out. They didn't. I finally wrote to the CEO.
Eventually, I hope, it got sorted. Took just two years to do it.

The moral of this tale is that Pipex does not accept communications by
email, phone or fax. (It is an IT company after all.) You have to
write a letter, preferably to someone at the top.
