Hi folks,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Elizabeth Mitchell show
a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for coming out and supporting the Music
Center and great kids' music!

Couple of events to draw your attention to:

• Sunday, March 15, Dennis Caraher will have a CD release party at the
Northampton Community Music Center at 2:00. More information at
http://www.dogbonetown.com/. Dennis and his collaborator Charlie
Braun will appear on Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child on Saturday,
March 21 (8-10 AM on 93.9 The River [101.5 in southern Vermont], 7-9
AM on 103.3 VFR).

• This coming Tuesday, March 17, Mariana Iranzi will do a free after-
school show at Cup & Top Cafe in the center of Florence. Mariana
performs wonderful bilingual music for the whole family. She'll
appear on our radio show this Saturday.

• Saturday, March 28, as you've probably heard, the River is
presenting Meltdown! It's a family music and book festival, free, all
day at JFK Middle School. Lots more information at http://wrsi.com/pages/3890016.php
and I'll also include some fun facts below. Among a dozen bands,
we'll have the Nields doing their first-ever full-band family show;
the Deedle Deedle Dees; Uncle Rock; and both Dennis Caraher and
Mariana Iranzi.

We're off to South by Southwest, and if you have friends attending or
who live in Austin, send them to http://sparetherock.com for
information about our No Nap Happy Hour showcase on Friday 3/20.

But we've got great radio lined up for while we're gone, so be sure to
listen, and we'll see you all at the Meltdown! Please forward this to
anyone you think might be interested in attending the Meltdown; we're
hoping to have a lot of people show up and make it an annual event!

Rock,
Bill & Ella & sometimes Liam

WRSI 93.9 The River - http://wrsi.com - Saturdays 8-10 AM
Presented by the Toy Box in Amherst

P.S. Some fun facts about the Meltdown:

• The Meltdown will be the first ever full-band family show by The
Nields.

• Red Gate Farm will, weather permitting, bring baby lambs. Baby
lambs, people! They will not, so far as I know, be selling or, um,
processing the lambs during the event.

• I've put a ton of stuff up on the Meltdown page at WRSI.com,
including links to all of the performers, some videos, some tracks you
can listen to, etc. It also has a full list of vendors, and folks,
it's a great list. Check it out. Please? 'Cause it kinda took a long
time.

• Monte will have most (maybe all) of the authors who are appearing at
the Meltdown on his show the week leading up to the Meltdown. Be sure
to listen. He'll also include some or all of them on the Best of Monte
that airs just before our show on the River (i.e., 7-8 am on
Saturdays).

• The Deedle Deedle Dees recently spent a weekend recording their next
record. Rumor has it that "Nobody Told Me to Be Susan B.
Anthony" (backstory here, involving me wearing a dress to elementary
school) made the cut. Will they play it at the Meltdown? Maybe! Will I
wear a dress? Probably not! But you can't know for sure without
coming.

• Cup & Top Cafe will be one of the food vendors. They will probably
bring some of their wicked good macaroni and cheese. Kids like
macaroni and cheese. This event is kid-focused. COINCIDENCE? No,
probably not.

• Mariana Iranzi will be on the show this Saturday, with jazz pianist
Leo Genovese on melodica and Andes. She's also playing next Tuesday in
a free after-school show at the aforementioned Cup & Top in the center
of Florence.

• Dennis Caraher will be on the show on the next Saturday, March 21,
with collaborator Charlie Braun and his sweet new 12-string.

• DJs from the River will do storytelling in the morning. Anyone who's
been to Paintbox Theater will be especially psyched to see Kelsey.

Remember: The River's Meltdown will take place on Saturday, March 28,
from 10 am to 4 pm at JFK Middle School on Bridge Road in Florence.
It's free, and presented by the nice folks at Yankee Candle Village
and 93.9 The River.
