It's a great few weeks for live music for families!
This Sunday, March 14, Gustafer Yellowgold (http://
www.gustaferyellowgold) will be at the Iron Horse at 2 in the
afternoon. Since his creation in 2005, Gustafer Yellowgold has become
an international phenomenon, acclaimed by the New York Times, which
said, “The show is a cross between ‘Yellow Submarine’ and Dr. Seuss.”
Entertainment Weekly praised “…The most infectious original songs.
It’s like tapping into some pleasure center in the brain -- both adult
and kid…absurdly appealing. Grade: A.” Gustafer Yellowgold concerts
are a unique blend of live music and moving image. The minimally
animated illustrations are accompanied by illustrator/songwriter
Morgan Taylor’s catchy and original story-songs for a truly different
multimedia experience that is entrancing to children, teens and adults
alike. The Iron Horse has family four packs for advance purchase only
for $30. http://iheg.com
A week from Saturday (March 20), Debbie & Friends will be at the Eric
Carle Museum. Get ready for some sing-along, dance-along, laugh-along
family fun in this rockin’ musical journey through classic kids’ tales
and original songs! This interactive “variety show” includes rock,
pop, country, reggae, and Broadway-esque tunes. Tickets are $6 at the
door only, benefiting the Northampton Community Music Center.
Admission to the museum is free that day as part of the celebration of
the Very Hungry Caterpillar's anniversary!
And then, the big kahuna, on Saturday March 27 -- 93.9 The River's
Family Music Meltdown and Book Bash, 10 am to 4 pm at JFK. I can't
even begin to describe all of it, but it's a day of music, book
readings, food, activities, vendors, and more for kids and their
grownups. And it's free!
