Hey!

I'm getting in touch to encourage you to sign up for a Grand Aspirations national team for this year! The national teams are what keeps the gears moving and local programs able to operate.  I was on the Program Support Team this past year, which allowed me to talk on a regular basis with programs across the country and work closely with the rest of the team.  Our team enjoyed working together a lot, and it was a source of motivation for me to be accountable to these awesome leaders.

I'd encourage any of you to apply for a national team, I think you all totally have the skills necessary!  There is a lot of support throughout the whole process, so even if you're somewhat hesitant you should go for it.

The deadline to join a team is September 3rd!  That's Saturday!

Step 1: Check out a description of what the teams are in this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_27kuyfJ_hjOozg6rgyH4uxy6wBkJqBUGlZfrsp9p4Q/edit?hl=en_US This document can look a little intimidating, so here's some advice about how to look at it:
a) take a look at the table of contents, which lists all the teams' names
b) if any of them look exciting, click on the name and it will bring you down to a 4-5 sentence description of what the team does, along with a set of tasks, relevant skills, and other useful information
c) If you have any questions, you should get in touch with me! I would love to talk through a good place for you in the structure!
d) go sign up!

A tip: These teams could still use members!
  • Program Support Team
    • Helping out your fellow solutionaries as they start programs! Yeah!
  • Anti-Harassment Committee
    • Keeping our organization safe for everyone and giving people recourse when they feel that safety has been violated! So important!
  • Resources Team
    • Make money! Help other people make money, and find ways not to need money! This team is completely essential for the organization, so you should be on it.
  • Hub Development Team
    • If you are excited about new directions for the organization or starting a year-round hub of awesome SoS-esque work in your location, this is a great team for you
  • National Gatherings Team
    • Planning great events? Yes please.
  • National Support Team
    • Keeping the national organization running smoothly and with friendship, aw yeah.

Step 2: Take 15 minutes to sign up for the teams and roles you are interested in on this form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dHdnSE5YbGhvak1nREQ5RFdDbXNXbHc6MQ#gid=0

Step 3: An ad hoc committee will put together teams based on everyone's interest and the needs of different teams. This committee will also schedule initial conference calls for the teams during the week of September 5.

Step 4: Super fun, effective teams and roles for a year! Hurray!

You should do it!

Love,
Martha
