I have been having this issue for awhile now. My phone will connect, work well for a few minutes, slow down, and then disconnect all together. I have erased all my settings twice, had Verizon update my carrier settings, gotten a new SIM card, and it still doesn't work. Is there a fix for this?? I'm trying to remote teach, and I am not having as much success as I need.

Same here. Wasn't even a problem with the ios14 beta. The issue literally started with the public release... Also noticed my phone would be a little more hotter than usual when devices are tethered to it.

This is a real issue that apple needs to address and fix. I called support yesterday and they first tried to blame my windows computer. I told them it was not as I was on the phone not my computer when I got an email to my phone and after that the blue bar on the top disappeared. This is what happens the phones modem maybe is turning off. But again it was working just fine since the start of COVID on iOS13. Apple this is such a important thing for so many people working from home.

It is not carrier specific issue! None of the Carriers in Kuwait have restriction on hotspot & the disconnections happen, especially when a call is answered. This is annoying as the Cisco VPN gets dropped and the wifi network disappears from the list of available networks etc.

Same problem here - most annoying. I tried resetting Network Settings with default to iPhone network name but a week on and the disconnects are so random often within a few seconds of each other.. iPhone no longer connects to other peripheral devices by Wifi which were OK under IOS13. Tried SIM in my old S7 Android and works perfectly with no disconnects...Come on Apple get this fixed as people need solid tethering to keep their lives and businesses on track during this Pandemic. This equipment is no toy considering the prices you charge!

Thanks buddy. I updated the device to 14.2, reset the network settings and the tethering is working without additional problems for now. Well, as a new iphone user, getting used to factors like, cannot move the phone as far away from the devices connected like the previous Android device etc.

I am having same problem from last one year with IPhone XR on iOS 13 and 14. Few observations from my end. After connecting to hotspot if I pick up or make phone call hotspot gets disconnected. Same happens if I browse web or app on iPhone for sometime with hotspot on. Another problem is with my Apple Watch. Whenever I go out of range of my iPhone with Apple Watch on hand with hotspot on it gets disconnected. If I leave both my Apple Watch and iPhone near my laptop hotspot stays on until I get some phone call. No solution till now for me.

Same issue for me, iOS 17.2.1 iPhone that provides the Hotspot. The Hotspot is connected successfully but no internet. This no internet issue with solid hotspot connection occurs both on my Macbook Pro w/ Sonoma 14.2.1 & my Macbook pro w/ Monterey 12.6.

I did chat with Apple support and also told them about the workaround. They wanted to go thru a lot more diagnostics, thinking it was hardware or something. Finally asked that they pass along as a bug and that I could live with the workaround. We'll see....

I noticed I only had to switch to Manual for the ipv4 DHCP once, the next time my hotspot worked for my Macbook Pro that was not working, but my daughter's Macbook Pro was different, it did start to connect with manual settings but was slow and intermittent connection.

I wanted to add that I've been grappling with this hotspot connectivity issue even before the iOS 17.2.1 update. Currently, I am still facing the problem on MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1, using a MacBook Pro with M2, attempting to connect to an iPhone 15 Pro Max hotspot. The same issue persisted with an iPhone 13 as well.

It's disheartening to experience this problem on a brand new device, especially when one of its advertised features is the ability to provide a reliable hotspot connection. The prolonged persistence of this issue is indeed disappointing, and it highlights the importance of having a seamless experience, particularly for business-related tasks. On-call engineers, people working remotely and many others are relying on a working hotspot...

DHCP Is Broken, I can no longer connect two of my Macbook Pro's that are both M1s, they are different macOS, one is Sonoma, one is Monetery. I have an older Macboo Pro that still connects without issue.

I recently bought a Dell Latitude 12-7275. I also have a new IPhone 8. When I try to connect the Dell to a hotspot through the IPhone, my Iphone flashes several times at the top and bottom of the screen, and then the Dell gives me a message that it "Can't connect to this network."

I'm running Windows 10. The Iphone data is through Verizon. I have installed all Windows updates. I updated all of my drivers through Dell, and then I updated my wireless adaptor through Intel. The wireless adaptor is a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260, and I have installed Driver 20.0.2.3.

I managed to get my iPhone hotspot to work today. I went to Settings > Wi-fi > Manage Known Networks, clicked on my iPhone network and then clicked on Forget. Then I tried re-connecting normally, and it worked perfectly.

I suspect that it was really installing all of the latest Windows and Driver updates that fixed things, but for some reason I still needed to forget the iPhone network before everything worked correctly.

I want to use my iPhone hotspot to connect the Square Terminal when I am selling at farmers markets. The terminal does not seem to recognize the the iPhone's hotspot. On my other devices ie tablet, the device automatically recognizes the hotspot and asks for the password. Please help, I'm not great at tech stuff.

To connect the hotspot to your Square Terminal tap on the three lines to open the menu and go to Settings > Hardware > Network. Your iPhone should come up as a network option here, and ask for a password after you tap on it.

The terminal doesn't automatically register the iPhone as a network name option so I have to type it in. Then it doesn't offer an option to enter the password, the screen has a Security option that says NONE. When I tap on this it offers NONE, WEP, WPA/WPA2 PSK or 802.1xEAP as my choices. I don't know what any of these mean.

When I go back to the Network screen the iPhone shows as a locked option, but when I tap on it to enter the password, nothing happens. The password is 13 characters in length, but there is way to enter it. Then there is a message at the top of the page saying I'm offline and to connect to the internet to take payments. After a couple of minutes the terminal reverts back to our home wifi and auto connects.

If you're still having trouble after going through this step, our support team would be happy to take a further look into your Terminal with you! You can call support on 1800 760 137, and our lines are open Monday -Friday, 9am-5pm AEST.

Finally had some success. After my daughter tried everything she knew, she suggested doing a factory reset before i phoned the support number you gave me. Worked a treat! Lucky for me it's a new device purchase so not much info to worry about losing.

Has anyone found a resolution to this problem yet. I am having the same issue with a Max Transit Duo running 8.1.3 and an iPhone 12 Mini with iOS 15.1. I have tried all possible fixes provided above including resetting the iPhone using the guide posted with no success.

thanks for the work around. this issue caused me to have several interruptions during my remote work days. When the cellular connection would fail, i like to drop back to the 2.4ghz + iPhone 8 hotspot connection. but since i could no longer get that to work, i had no backup. resetting the cellular connection would take 90sec (or more) for me to get back to the meeting where i was presenting. I hope a true fix comes out in the next firmware update.

Particle Community - I teach an Internet of Things course and, once again, could use a little help for my students. We are using Argons, mostly in the classroom. However, for their capstone projects, I have a couple students that need to be connected outdoors. We are able to connect to an android hotspot no issue (particle serial wifi and enter the android credentials). However, it does not seem to work for connecting to iphones. Is there a tip or trick of what might be needed to connect Argon wifi to an IOS hotspot? Thanks.

In addition, my experience with iPhone 6/7 plus, has been that if a wifi device sleeps, after a few minutes the iPhone will stop Internet sharing, so when the device wakes up again it can not connect again.

Thank you everyone. Using the above to make sure the iPhone was setup to accept connections and then clearing the wifi credentials followed by loading only the hotspot credentials seems to have worked. On behalf of my students, appreciate the help.

There's a bug in the GP client code that's encountered when connecting via an iPhone hotspot that's using an IPv6 only cell carrier where NAT64/CLAT are used. Under these conditions PanGPS segfaults and crashes while it's processing gateway's from what appears to be a null pointer dereference. The bugged logic seems to occur from the 192.0.0.2/32 your WiFi interface is receiving from the iPhones DHCP. Apple must have made a change here in one of the recent IOS updates.
