Thanks Akong for the response.
Sa aspect ng playing field, we will have to make do with what we can
get access to. For example, right now, the Philippine Flag Football
League is playing on the old UP track and field oval which is
certainly a far cry from the 100x53 yards requirement in the pro
leagues. But the PFFL are playing and they have been playing for the
past 9 years. I believe we just have to show the viability of this
sport in the long term, to get developers to consider putting up multi-
purpose stadium complexes. It certainly isn't impossible. A few
decades ago, you can hardly see a full 18-hole golf course in the
country. Now they're just about everywhere. And how about a world
class ice-skating rink in a tropical country - 10 years ago, it would
be totally inconceivable. Now there's 3 of them up and running in the
malls. We too can get there.
In terms of equipment, at first we may have to import the stuff. But
one of the things I envision with this sport is that many of these
gear, can be manufactured in the country. I won't be surprised if some
of the enterprising souls from among us would later on supply the
league with Philippine made football gear and maybe even export them
to other countries, maybe even the NFL. The possibilities are endless.
As for officials, we are going to put up offiicals/coaches training
camps, most likely by the first half of 2009. I'm already in
communication with football authorities in the USA and in Australia
and I hope that we can tap their expertise for the training program.
I'll be posting a call for officials pool soon. So for those who want
to become the future referees, umpires, linesmen, judges, etc for the
Philippine Gridiron League, do sign up and we will keep you posted.
If you have other suggestions or comments, just keep them coming. This
league will require the cooperation of everyone to become a reality.
