One thing that came about on a recent 'mini-tour' with our fully loaded Pino... I had fitted the extended bars to the front underseat low rider (red). Previously I have left these off, mounting our Arkle recumbent panniers on the top bar of the low rider (blue). I had tried this new position to give me more room to pedal and reduce the risk of me clipping the rear of the Arkles with my toes.
After setting off with the fully loaded bike, I immediately noticed a low-speed wobble, with the effect coming through the steering and causing the bars to oscillate. Not something I had experienced before, and I put it down the the different mounting position, with the weight slightly further outboard, lower and further forward. It disappeared once we were moving faster, but on the first climb, with the slowing of our progress, the wobble returned. A hasty road-side modification ensued, where I removed the extender bars and reverted to mounting the panniers on the top bar – no more problems.
