Hello All,
I have a CD with about 20 MRI series of Brain. I know which technique I need to import (T1 post), but when I try to go through import process of Pinnacle the series are identified via ExamID tag (say 19041). This tag is not in dicom header of the files on the disk if I believe ImageJ, DicomWorks or Microdicom (all dicom viewing programs). The number of slices in Pinnacle selection window is sometimes helpful to single out what you need, but not in my case (12 series with 24 slices). Is there a logical way to establish connection between particular imaging deries and ExamID? One of online docs mentions ExamID being at [F001, F11B], but none of that is found by Dicom viewers.

Thanks

It is convoluted (but it works here when desperate) to upload whole scwhack to PACS (flagged do not read to radiologist) and then export only what you need to Pinnacle import folder.

This may not be helpful but the tag referred to should be readable by
Pinnacle's DICOM reader:

/usr/local/adacnew/PinnacleStatic/bin/common/DICOMList

I have a copy in my /files/network/DICOM directory. It must have
execute rights.

To use it from an Xterm prompt:
DICOMList <single dicom image file>

You can 'pipe' it into more or redirect output into a file for easier
viewing. Happy to give unix tips if needed.

Cheers,
Sam

Thanks Sam, looks like it may help in certain situations, However I still face a major problem: I have a CD with 10 folders, each having 3D MRI image. When I use Pinnacle import interface, I could choose images by ExamID/slice number. If I know from reviewing PACS images that T1 is 30 slices, and T2 is 29, and I need to import T2 image, then selection process is obvious through the import interface, otherwise it's pain. I can give another example, when we do 3 phase study for Liver targets (inhale/exhale/normal), I have to remind CT techs to change slice number for each phase, so that we can identify phases correctly in Pinnacle. We are ver 8.0m, is the process optimized in later versions? Series time stamp would be very helpful if made visible in import dialog box.

So far, the only solution I see, is to review CDimages on my Workstation -> copy series I need to CD/USB drive -> import to pinnacle.

Thanks,
  M

If you have the chance to install Pinnacle 9 with its new LaunchPad ,
the image import is alot more friendly.
You will be able to see the series description such as AX T1 or SAG
T2.
Installing Pinnacle 9 does not mean that you have to plan with but you
will use the new LaunchPad.
