Listers: We are a multiple site clinic currently working with one 810 supporting 4 planners with one 810. 2 planners are at the location of the 810 and 2 across town networked over Citrix T1 with p3pc. We experience suboptimal contouring at this location. Philips has suggested that the solution would be the Smart enterprise server with its thin client application. Has anyone experienced our current situation and seen a benefit with the smart enterprise server? Can any one report or comment on the speed, contouring lag and stability of the SE server? Any issues with network architecture limitations? Philips has recommended upgrades in the past that did not work; we would like to find a site that has seen a benefit before we make the purchase. - Thanks for all responses. - Ed

You might be better served by the new Professional system. Hardware
is the same, (both are on Sun rack servers, but the Enterprise is 3
boxes min, whereas the Pro is 1 box) but it is scaled for the mid-
sized user. The Enterprise based system will attach to the hospital
SAN or a Raid purchased with the system, whereas the Pro has an
internal 2Tb raid. The Enterprise is scalable, the Pro is not. The
thin clients run on less bandwidth than the workstations and the P3PC
is a dead product, it has been replaced by OVDC (VCC in Philips
speak), which seems to work much better.

With Citrix , do you use Reflection X as the X emulator? In our
center , we are using P3MD with Reflection X and in default windows
mode , contouring is slow but if you set Reflection to work in 256
colors in works better. You can change this setting by right clicking
on rx.exe , choose properties, compatibilty tab, and choose `run in
256 colors`. Try it!
