Photo syncing was a service that allowed you to back up photos from your phone to a private folder on Facebook. Only you could see them, but still, many users considered this feature not safe. As of July 7, 2016, private photo syncing was disabled, and Facebook stopped supporting storage for these backup folders.
We began testing photo sync in August and will continue to make it available to more people. Get the latest Facebook app for Android or iPhone to try it out. Learn more at Facebook.com/mobile or visit the Help Center.

Facebook is rolling out its new Photo Sync feature to its iOS users that automatically uploads all photos taken on the iPhone to a private photo album on Facebook. The idea is to make it easier and faster for users to share photos with their friends.
When you turn on photo syncing, your mobile photos will be saved to a private section of your Facebook Photos. You can easily share your synced photos on your timeline from desktop, mobile, or another device.
Facebook's support site has much more about Photo Sync. Facebook is using background uploads within the Facebook iOS app to move the photos, not anything special with location APIs or Apple's iOS 6 Facebook integration.
MacRumors attracts a broad audience of both consumers and professionals interested in the latest technologies and products. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple platforms.
Facebook has opened its Photo Syncing option to iOS users. Photo Sync, made available for Android users earlier this year on the social networking's mobile app, allows Facebook users to automatically and privately upload up to 2GB of photos to Facebook. Users can then choose to share their photos, or not. The feature is being tested on both platforms now, not all users will see the functionality on their mobile app.
For Facebook users concerned about their privacy, know that Photo Sync will only upload your photos if you turn it on. iPhone users need iOS 6 as well as the latest version of the Facebook app in order for Photo Sync to work. To turn on Photo Sync, go to the Photos section in your left-side navigation bar. There, you should find the "Sync" button. This is where you can start following the step-by-step set up instructions.
Once you turn on Photo Sync, Facebook will try to upload your photos as soon as you take them. Facebook does take into account your battery life and will not upload photos if you are low on juice. Additionally, you can set up Photo Sync to only upload photos when you are connected to Wi-Fi so your data usage doesn't go through the roof.

Last month, we also reported that a modified version of the Moments app was rolled out in Canada and the European Union without the facial recognition technology. This is because courts in Canada and the European Union have ruled that the photo-tagging system is deemed a violation of privacy laws.
