Can't believe it's almost time for the beach party!!

 

Alec and I are arriving on Saturday at 5:20pm (United #1679). It looks like several of you are arriving around the same time, maybe even on the same flight.

 

Is anyone interested in sharing transportation to Tulum? We're staying at Piedra Escondida, a couple minutes away from Papaya Playa Project.

 

We're thinking of booking a car service but open to other ideas.

As a added bonus, the night after our event is the  bay SF base  collective and friends  Sunset Sound System event .( Galen , Solar etc) They will play also  play music from sunset to sunrise on  Tuesday January 20th , 2015 at a  resort  also in Tulum called The Papaya Playa Project  . https://www.facebook.com/sunsetsoundsystem   

We hope you will join us in this inaugural Pink Mammoth event. and Sunsets too , Its going to be SO fun !!

As for Travel ,Ones have different arrival and departure times.  most are leaving to this event on Friday, January 16th and returning Thursday, January 22nd.

 as for Accomodations:

After some research we did , many of us decided on and  ironically booked the  same resort where Sunset Sound system event is,  which is the Papaya Playa Project.. Their link is here:         http://www.papayaplayaproject.com/      Many of us check in Monday, Jan 19th and  check out Thursday, the 22nd  (3 nights )   but some are earlier and some later.   ( If you prefer another place  there are many  accommodations along the coast or in town in Tulum . just do some research and book the accommodation that best suits you. ) However, if you are interested in staying at Papaya Playa Project and be part of the Core part of PM and Sunset   there are a couple of ways to make a reservation:

  option 1. Robin Drysdale has contacted the resort and set up a group of rooms that are on hold .  The info is below.   (see website for room types and capacity per room .)   http://www.papayaplayaproject.com/

This is refundable (one can cancel) up to 60 days before the reservation. The group hold is officially for 1/19 - 1/22 .

  A group of us are planning to stay in  PDC ( Playa Del  Carmen ) on Saturday January 17th and Sunday January 18th to check out some events and closing party  as well as help  get the word out  and promote PMs Monday evening’s Event.  Some of us are staying and have booked direct at Riviera del Sol http://rivieradelsol.com/ .  There is another less expensive hotel located a block over from the Riviera del Sol which is Hotel Banana http://www.hotelbanana.net/   and a few of us will be staying here too.  Of course these are just suggestions and if you map both hotels you will see other option accommodations near by.     If one decides to stay in PDC for the closing of BPM, keep in mind that these hotels are booking up  quicker  now that the lineup for BPM has been released  so its best to decide soon.

Our hotel recommended Tucan Kin shuttle. The cost depends on how many people we can get together. Here's the breakdown for a one-way service from the airport to Tulum:

3-4 people: $140 (total, NOT per person)

5-10 people: $150

Let me know if you want a spot! I'll e-mail you privately tomorrow and let you know if anyone else joined, and how much the total would be per person.

Good  list from SF arrive at 6 am Saturday morning the 17 th , ( Joe (me ) ,  Steve , Jonathan , Jen , Rob  , Rose , Annie , Chris ,Kate , TD , Kim , Matt ) that I know of .   most I think are headed directly to Tulum .   Though a handful of us are staying in PDC Saturday and Sunday night for the BPM

Festivities and  promotion of PM Tulum event .  Lots  of word of mouth type promotion . Though would  be great to have a small flyer with info . We can announce the surprise headliner  I think  jan 8th?  You'll all love it  !       Zach and Ali will already be in PDC .    Steve , Jonathan , Matt and myself  are also in PDC 1st two nights . 17th / 18th  for  BPM and PM promotion .  We will head the morning of the 19th to Tulum . To check in before the PM event ..   Excited to see you all !!     Steve set up a car shuttle service . To take the 4 of us ( Steve , Jonathan , Matt , Me ) from the airport to PDC ( plays del Carmen )    Steve , can you post the car service you used .  And it's added  car service amenity that I think he did . Joe, Jonathan Will, Matt and I are  landing at around 6:15 a.m. on Saturday the 17th and have booked a shuttle van called USA Transfers which includes the option of stopping at Walmart in Playa before going to the hotel. We have room for 3 more people in our van. If you are landing around 6 a.m. Saturday and are interested in a ride to Playa del Carmen please let me know. their web site is here: http://www.entertainment-plus.net/transfers/playa-del-carmen-transfers.asp
 It looks like most shuttle transfers are small private buses that accommodate up to 7 or 10 people and I am seeing that the prices are around 70.00 for transfers to Playa Del Carmen hotels and around 100.00 for a private bus rental  (7-10 Persons) to Tulum.  I check for the least expensive route via ADO shuttles but it looks like they do not operate on Saturdays, perhaps other days they are available for transfers. I see that the website says 60.00 for the transfer but the actual quote that I received is for 70.00, and they do not require advance payment which is why I liked this service. many of the other services requried advance payment in full which is fine too.

keep in mind once you land you will be bombarded by a small group of persistent tour operators and shuttle companies insisting that you use their service so it will be less of a headache to at least have something in place before you get there unless you are ok with negotiating with a shuttle/valet service once you arrive. If anyone has any other shuttle van recommendations please share them!

I'm assuming the three more spots on the bus would be only for people that are going to PDC . Or  does that service have option if we get 3 more people that the shuttle can continue  to take them to Tulum ?

I am brimming with excitement about this dream family vacation we are about to take! OMG!!

It's time for us to lay on the PM party promo: What seems to be most important is getting the word out on Facebook, etc, about the party - we'd like to see our pre-sales up a bunch before we even get there. So, if you can post the party to your wall, invite everyone you know, talk about how excited you are....that would be super helpful!  (Same goes for the Boat Party too!!! - maybe you could talk about both! :-)

Once we're in Mexico - whether you are staying in PDC or Tulum on Saturday and Sunday - please plan on talking up our party wherever you are - inviting folks and drumming up excitement. We may have flyers to pass out as well, so we'll let you know about that. There is no specific plan to all go to any specific party - but please do promote wherever you are!

Very much looking forward to seeing you all in the sun and sand.

I reserved room for 10, so we will have plenty of room as well. We arrive in Cancun at 6AM on Saturday the 17th. If anyone wants to join us, please let me know or we can coordinate once we land. Its the same price for 7/10.
