hi

I have a problem with the pinguino detection on AMD64

I have installed the same file (beta7) in two environments a 32bit
linux and a 64-bit (both Ubuntu 9.10 + KDE)
on linux 32-bit the board is detected and programmable, but on the 64-
bit at command lsusb the pinguino is not detected....

can you help me with more commands on usb ??

I used the installation script from Raul (thanks Raul!!)

Hi Alejo,

You should verify if libusb is installed on the 64 bits version.
Else connect your pinguino, then try the dmesg command and send me the result.

Sometimes i had this problem.
Try to connect Pinguino on an other USB port, or better, if you have a USB hub, connect Pinguino on the HUB and then the HUB on the computer.

tell me what is the result.

For libusb it seems to be OK. But libusb 1.0 is yet under development. I didn't found a working version of PYusb for libusb 1.0.
If somebody has, i will be interested because it seems that multithreading was improved in libusb 1.0.

like Jan-Pierre  have said, might be hardware problem.

Hi Ale.

If you have external power, have you connected Pinguino GND to USB GND? If not, try it.
I'm running on a 64-bit with Ubuntu 9.10. and it works fine.

I use the same board on a linux32 ubuntu 9.10
and the detection, connection and program loading is perfect.

pinguino USB is connected to USB GND

Hi Ale.

I think it will help if you connect a 100 nF capacitor between Vdd and Vcc close to the PIC on Pinguino. It can depend on noise in the USB-power. One shoud allways have a 100 nF capacitor at each IC to prevent noise.

Krister.

About the noise , I think like you

I put the capacitor under the IC, between the GND (pin12 +31) and VCC
(11 +32)

Hi Ale.

What happened when you put the capacitor on? Did it work?
