Try this if the above directions don't work....Remove everything from
"sound, video and game controlers" and anything else that concerns your
sound card, from Device mgr....(You can get to Device Mgr by: right click on
the "my computer" Icon and left click on Properties). Next: go to start/run
and type REGEDIT...go under HKeyLocalMachine/ENUM/ and delete the following
keys ESDI, FLOP, MF, SCSI, BIOS, ISAPNP...close the reg editor and
restart...windows will reload the devices and will prompt you to
restart...do not load the drivers for the sound card when Windows 98 picks
it up. Find you sound card drivers and load them AFTER you boot to
windows...restart and you should have sound.
