bad ping cannot be canceled

I start pinging to an address that is not available (e.g. 50 queries)
I cancel the ping (I close the tab), but the program constantly sends queries (50) to the network
I found out using tcpdump on the server/router

Whether a ping is cancelled when the tab is closed depends on the underlying Android implementation (in other words, it may differ between manufacturers and devices). The app uses the system ping executable, over which it has no control once it has been started (apart from reading its output, obviously).
