The FAQ says the GPS permission is there because you get a kmz file after running a test with location, I've done this but I have no idea how to get the file? All I get is either the txt or pdf file.
I ran a 15 minute test while driving, and the GPS coordinates are clearly logged in the text for every ping.

Thanks.

The file is stored in Android's internal storage. The location is shown at the end of the ping results; see the attached screenshot for an example. You can access the file using a file manager with the proper permissions.

Or you can email it somewhere - after the ping is done, go to "Email results" in the app menu, and you will see that the file is available there as an attachment.

Weird, I'm only getting the txt file.

Strange. Does the result mention the file name at the bottom? Something might have gone wrong while creating it.
