Does anyone think that Antelope might be worth checking out Thursday? It looks like it might have potential.

Could be.
I’ve got Christopher/driver on standby. Also depends on snow, and cleanup of the launch.

Are you still interested in flying Antelope today?

Contrary to popular belief, Antelope can not fly.

Yes, we’ll be leaving Bend about 10:30 AM.
So far Scott and Christopher. We’ll have equipment to clear snow on the road and brush at launch. We’ll probably be at Millican around 11 Ish a.m.

The joke is on us.

But then I digress.

We don’t have actual antelope in North America.

Looking forward to hearing about your launch approach antics and flights. What a beautiful day.

Patrick

the pronghorn, a unique mammal native to North America, is often referred to as the "American antelope". While not a true antelope in the same family as African antelopes, it fills a similar ecological role and is commonly called that. The pronghorn is found in the western and central parts of North America.
Here's why it's sometimes called an antelope:
  • Similar Appearance:
Pronghorns share a similar physical appearance with antelopes, including their slender build, long legs, and horns.
  • Ecological Role:
They occupy a similar ecological niche as antelopes in Africa, grazing on grasslands and prairies.
  • Historical Context:
The pronghorn was first described by William Clark as "like the antelope or gazella of Africa," and the name stuck.
However, it's important to note that:
  • Pronghorns are not part of the Bovidae family (which includes true antelopes) but rather the Antilocapridae family.
  • Their closest living relatives are giraffes and okapis.
