Looks ok if you get off.  Looks better earlier.

Good call Charlie. It does look soarable today.  Nice mm5 and winds aloft forecast.  Today probably doesn't work for me.  Thanks for Posting.  SW

It sounds like it's pretty questionable get into the top. I'm thinking of calling the forest service tomorrow and seeing what the status is unless you STEVE no more. I texted with Mike Whelan earlier today and he said it's technically closed with a $10,000 fine.

Scott, the 100 Rd is open as far as I know.  The 2017 Rd aka Pine Mtn Rd and Observatory Campground are closed as per posted signs/maps.  We would only need to use that short stretch of Rd between upper 100 and west launch turnout, for now.  That would be great if you could talk to the forest service and get clarification and their future timeline plans.  Thanks, SW

So is the road up to Antelope launch useable and legal?

Mike Whelan thought so...

The short part of the observatory road  between road 100 and west launch road is closed also. Road to antelope is the only one open.

I called the forest service today to find out the status of us using that short section of the 2017 road from the end of the 100 to our turn off to launch.

The person I talked to is Owen at the Bend Fort rock Ranger district and he is the one I talk to in the past about road access .

He didn't have any new information to give me. I explained our situation and he gave me the email address for special permit group at the FS that handles access to closed areas as ours is.

I will be sending an email to that group shortly asking for permission to use that short section of road for our group.

SCOTT.

Thanks Scott!
I changed my mind on flying today.  Early might work at Antelope but a strong NW wind coming in later could cause some nasty shear fear flying later.

Mike Whelan reported the barriers  and signs have been removed. The 2017 road to the observatory is now open.

Woohoo!
