Tomorrow's wind direction looks good, a little light maybe.  I'm down to try West launch if anyone else is in the afternoon?

Hi Steve Wright , it seems that there's been very little activity on this group . I wonder whether you guys went iver to Telegram for the Pine Mtn Group . I have a driver for tomorrow, Sat aug 30  if you would want to fly . Only have room for 2 gliders on my rack , but if someone else wants to go , i can rebuild the rack wider as a temporary and bring up 3 gliders. Charlie

appreciate your comments . i use XC Skies , which shows the strong SW  you mention  all day til 4 pm  , but at 5 to 6 pm XC skies  shows a marked  direction change to NW , making me think i could get an hour flight .
does the mountain actually change like that , and glass off ,  or is it a figment of XC Skies  computer imagination ?
thanks guys  you're saving me gas . ill try another day if the locals say no to saturday .

Current 6pm Fri.  More clear now than earlier today.   Smoke haze is a factor.  Next couple days look light at launch, but likely big thermals, LIFT. Forecast Direction/Velocity at launch somewhat unknown. My 2 cents.  SW

Yes the forecast says a late shift in the lower winds to NW.
Could be turbulent because of the shear between SW and NW.

hi Charlie B and Steve R , gotcha. i am cancelling my quest for smooth air today saturday 30 Aug.  Last night on the ground i watched the sudden  direction change from SW  to NW in Redmond around dusk . it's one of those conditions as they say " better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than the other way around"  my friend was in Bend at that time  , where the air went from very smoky  to clear , suddenly around 630 pm .
very good CB
