New translation spreadsheets

Thanks so much for your help!
Here are links to the two spreadsheets that cover account signup
language and a number of miscellaneous phrases throughout the site.

If you worked on the first spreadsheet, you may notice some
similarities. I didn't assume I could correctly write 'popular
bookmarks' just because I had translations for the two separate words.
If I'm mistaken, please let me know. I don't want you to do
unnecessary work. You are also welcome to provide suggestions for our
translation process.

Hi,
I am not sure about the translation of "you" because in German "you"
can mean "Sie" which is really formal or "du" which is informal.
Do you have any thoughts on this?

Hi Stephan,
Thanks for the rapid response! We've used the informal 'you' in other
languages that make a distinction, so unless you think it would be
rude of us to be informal in German, please go ahead and use 'du'.

In my view, "Sie" is better. Even though the internet community may
have a more informal approach, some might still take offense if they
are addressed as only friends and children should be addressed in
proper German, while nobody will be offended by the more formal
"Sie".

I agree David,
I used the formal version and put the alternative informal version in
the notes.

i beg to differ. even insurance companies on twitter use Du when
communicating with their customers, it's just the interwebs. using
"Sie" on a social site like pinboard seems pretty ridiculous to me as
it appears impersonal and cool (in a negative way).

I agree with hynek that the use of the informal "Du" is widespread
today. In spite of this (or, rather, all the more so) I consider it
rude. It is obviously directed at creating a personal link which is
then exploited for selling stuff. In my view, this is precisely what
Pinboard is not, and should not appear to be. But if the informal "Du"
is used, please use it with a capital letter ("Du" instead of "du") so
that it conveys at least some respect.

My vote also for the informal version, since people using pinboard.in
are (at least that's my assumption) quite likely tech-savvy and not
offended when using "du".
The formal version would be right on a banking website, but not for a
web application like pinboard (the twitter comparison is good).
