When I import my starred items from google reader I get all 1000+ items, but because each feed item's "content" field automatically populates the description field in Pinboard, my screen is filled with descriptions making browsing, etc. ungainly.

Is there anyway to import without that happening? Anybody know a way to trip the "content" field quickly from the starred.json file? (I'm on OS X 10.8 if that matters w/regard to editing the JSON manually).

I figured out a workaround:
1. Download your data with Google Takeout
2. Open "starred.json" in a text editor that supports regex find/replace
3. Search for "^.*content" : ".*$"
4. Replace " "content" : """
[don't include the outside set of quotes; i.e. the end of the replace should have a double set of quotes, not triple. Include the spaces]

Test it out and play with it if you don't get quite the results you want, but a find/replace all enabled me to upload all my starred items without anything going into the description field in Pinboard.

Thanks for posting this workaround.  It's very handy since I know a number of people really don't want the giant articles imported.
