We have discussed having an out of the box solution to dealing with
subscriptions. A new app has come about namely named django-paypal. It
is best solved there than reinventing the wheel. I don't see an issue
with Pinax using some sort of credit card processing solution written
in Python.

I however, strongly disagree here. Web frameworks are not only
targeted for e-commerce or sites that need to deal with credit card
processing. This sort of thing is best handled by third-party tools
that abstract and/or reduce duplication and complexity of this sort of
thing. The Ruby community already has ActiveMerchant which I think is
absolutely excellent. These sort of things emerge from e-commerce
platforms because they have that specific need. I don't see any reason
why the Python community can't have the same tool. I disagree this is
something that a web framework should provide. I am not arguing that
it should be provided as an add-on and reduce the complexity involved.
It is far to domain specific and web framework developers need to
focus on more core features than spending time perfecting the best
credit card processing solution.
