I am interested in social business apps, but don't mean to limit this
group to my personal interests.

By social business apps I mean, sites where members actually do
business with each other, or are involved in the same business
network. Which might be very loosely coupled.

For example, I developed a site for a co-housing group using Pinax.
I'm still working on it, but the source is at http://code.google.com/p/pinax-cohousing/

I have also developed sites for a group of farmers that collect and
distribute their food to a group of customers, and am working with
another similar-but-different food group now.

I also worked with a timber group: woodlot owners, loggers, small
sawmill operators, wood finishers, etc.

In the past, I have worked with supply chains, CRM and VRM apps,
limited liability companies and franchises, all of which are social
business apps in one way or another.

So that's my angle. What's yours?

(For example, some people who have signed up for this group are
interested in company intranets and extranets. Those are social
business apps, too. And some other people are interested in company
ecommerce sites. Or other business uses of Pinax that are not social
in nature. All business-related uses of Pinax are welcome.)

Thanks,

My interests tend more towards the "social business" and not so much
the "pure business" (intranets etc.). I'm excited about things that
connect local communities together and allow them to develop and
strengthen local economies: community-supported agriculture, farmers'
cooperatives, co-housing; etc.

I have had an idea for a "social" site for quite some time and perhaps
I have missed my window of opportunity? I am new to Python and
Django, but very impressed with both technologies. In looking for
more of a CMS application for Django, I found Pinax.

I am playing with it now and would like to possibly extend it with
some CMS-esque functionality. Has anyone deployed Pinax and extended
it in a production environment? Or at least another example beyond
cloud27?

I would interested in anything learned and will post my trials and
tribulations as well.

Re CRM: that topic came up over lunch at Pycon. Might have general
interest.

Re CRM: that topic came up over lunch at Pycon, which probably means
it is generally interesting.
