Yep, barring heavy rain I'll be there

I will be there, rain or not.

Well, if it's ABSOLUTELY lashing down, I may give it a miss, but
drizzle won't stop me.

I'll be there if it's not raining. And if anyone fancies a game of
post-polo ice-hockey...

Subject: [alts] Alts Are Back In Town

Read this e-mail on GroupSpaces

Hi everyone, hope you've had fabulous Christmases and New Years!

But it's that moment you've all been waiting for, the first
Alternative Ice Hockey session of term. As usual, we're running at
12:30-2am every Wednesday night for the rest of term, and you all you
need to bring is £4 (or £3 if you have your own skates), though gloves
and friends are also good things to bring / drag along (you'd be
amazed how many people secretly love post-midnight ice hockey without
knowing it)!

Look forward to seeing you there!
-John [El Presidente]
1. For those who haven't been before...

Don't worry if you've never been before, or you can't skate, or have
never played hockey or ice hockey in your life, just come along and
give it ago - you'll have fun anyway (and there's no commitment
whatsoever).

The ice rink itself is a short distance south-east of the city centre,
see this map: http://tinyurl.com/2bb66v
2. Eh? Alts? Wassat?

Alts is ice hockey played for FUN. It's MIXED, and aimed at BEGINNERS
to intermediates. We play NON-CONTACT so there's no aggressive
body-checking, and use an extra-light puck. This means you can play
ice hockey without needing to buy expensive padding! (We also provide
helmets and gloves for goalkeepers just in case).

Alts is one of the most INFORMAL sports in Oxford. You just show up on
the night, join a team of six (or bring your own!), and play ice
hockey.
