Most coaches want to take flying sprints of various lengths and units of measurements and convert them into velocities. This table provides the split times on the left column and converts the 10m split into three expressions of velocity. The second column is the meters per second expression, followed by the kilometers per hour column, and finalized with the miles per hour list to the far right. If you are doing a longer fly run, such as 20 or 30 meters, simply divide by 2 (for 20m splits) or 3 (for 30m splits) and you have the 10m time split. While the 10m will be an average time, it is assumed that the athlete is actually holding speed throughout the sprint. If you are getting a flying sprint from combine testing and you are still using yards, convert the 10 yard split with the formula below.

Unsurprisingly for a watch conceived as a gift for racing drivers, the Valjoux 55 inside the ref. 4113 is no nonsense, in short, the complete opposite of modern day split-seconds chronograph that are all haute horlogerie. The bridges are undecorated, but the steel levers and springs of the chronograph mechanism are straight grained and bevelled; the movement must have been appealingly functional looking when it was fresh out of the factory in 1942.

Athletes who run a 4.5 forty or better almost always run the 2nd half of the race in 2.0 seconds or less. Those who blister in the 4.3s or faster often are around 1.8 seconds for the flying 20. Take a look at the combine split times from NFL Draft Scout for a further look.

During the last portion of this block, in Phase 3, we descended loading and increased velocity. We did this partly to transfer to a higher rate of force development (RFD) and also to deload tissue to some degree as we prepped for the second half of summer when we focused on true maximal strength.

During the second half of the summer (P4, P5), the athletes were on campus. Day 1 again followed a basic Triphasic approach, maintaining volumes and intensities, while varying the contraction types (ECC/ISO/CON). This progressed through the pre-season period with the peaking phases of the Triphasic methodology, decreasing loads, increasing velocity, and realizing improvements in power output. Meanwhile, during Day 2, we aggressively loaded the RFE movement in a true accelerative strength phase, culminating in a legit 1RM.

Why is this beneficial? This can tell the coach whether or not the athlete is accelerating through the entire 40 yards and not ever actually reaching top speed (velocity keeps increasing), it can tell the coach what splits (phases of the sprint) the athlete struggles the most with (poor initial velocities compared to other athletes), and it can also inform the coach whether or not the modality they are testing might be using (a sled or overspeed work) is too heavy or too light.

Hitting the wall at 29.34, McKeown is out quickly but was behind the previous 200 back WR split of Regan Smith of 29.06. Over the first 50 meters, she took 32 strokes. Her distance per stroke was 1.09 meters/stroke and her rate was 0.20 seconds/stroke (0.40 seconds/cycle).

The S2000 engine's dual overhead camshafts feature a space-efficient cam-drive consisting of a crankshaft-driven, silent-chain primary drive and a geared-secondary drive. The chain, along with a chain guide and an automatic tensioner, is located in an enclosed gallery at the front of the engine block. The primary chain turns an idler gear at its upper end, which drives the second stage- the intake and exhaust camshaft gears. The camshaft gears are smaller in diameter than conventional toothed sprockets, which allow the camshafts to be placed closer together, further saving space. Geared drives are widely used in racing engines because of their dependability and greater timing accuracy at high rpm. Each camshaft gear is a split (scissors) type, consisting of two concentric, spring-loaded gears, set at a slight angle from each other.
