visual syntax dx

rxjs proves to me that plain 2d ascii is not good for anything much with concurrency, parallelism, pipelines. it might work in some more constrained 2d ascii style, like a table or something advanced like ascii-diagramming, but otherwise it is just a very round peg in a very square hole. 

(besides all the bugs in using rxjs, also at least partially attributable to the ascii syntax.)
