i find it continually depressing how many development environments do not have any actually good way to query usefully, richly, flexibly, intelligently, easily, about the code. 

and i mean not just the ascii: the ladder of things up from there. the concepts, if you will. 

i mean just trying to get correct actionable diagrams of any code is heck.

I think there are probably more tools out there. E.g. a Google search for C++ visualization found plenty (See++, Python Tutor, etc.).

But it's unfortunate that such tools are not widespread. Would be nice if they came with the compiler.

imho such diagramming tools are not great usually, in no small part because they: are after thoughts; only show the first level of relationships; do not help with the understanding of precisely "why" things are. 

one can hope new AI tools could improve the situation.
