everything looks like a nail

at the top of this stack is a dsl done entirely in json, with no json schema or much documentation ha ha. parsing is done with regexps. no spec, no compiler, or anything. 

lower down it is Angular, which is like the exact opposite, where google people were like, "i know! i'll write a compiler!" without having ever internalized the punchline of that joke template.

so i am literally at both worst ends of the gamut all at once, and both sides are kind of their own special form of heck.
