too much code is write-forward-only. 

and our tools fail to compensate and bridge the maintainability gap. 

if i cannot grep for it easily then that is a negative mark on the dx scorecard. if the debugger sucks; if there is no debugger; etc. 

and i believed that even before i landed in a project that makes heavy use of css, scss, material, angular, etc. to do styling.
