signature is not enough

in order to grok the code, one has to grok all the things written in the project eg helper functions. the names are never enough to be unambiguous. the type signatures constrain more but are often still not enough (especially if people/language cannot or do not typedef/newtype). so you often DO have to look at everything that is under the hood. which frankly sucks.
