i hope one cannot condone any language that defaults class fields to public. footguns aplenty for anything other than 10 line bash scripts. 

unfortunately that's a lot of languages?

javascript, typescript's bow train wreck because history, scala, python, shells, groovy, etc. ad nauseam?

(it is extra hilarious when languages create public get/seter properties by default.)
