Hi,
I have a few questions regarding image formats on Palm OS (4.x or
above). I am developing an application that allows the user to write
text using stylus and then save this hand written text or signature in
the form of a DB record. I am comfortable with how gadgets work and
how to draw. What I cant comprehend is the image formats supported by
Palm OS.

1- For the kind of application i am developing, what are the formats
(for example bmp, jpg, png etc) does Palm OS support? Or does it
support just one?

2- Does Palm OS distinguish between various image formats when it
comes to saving an image as a record? When programmatically saving an
image in a Palm OS DB, can we some how specify (in the code) to save
in Bitmap or JPG? Or do we have to stick to the supported Bitmap APIs
available with the OS and can save only in supported Palm OS bitmap
format?

3- When saving this image programmatically on a memory card, does Palm
OS allow more freedom in terms of formats than it does while saving it
as a DB record residing in its own memory?

4- If for instance I want to save the image (of the text captured) on
a memory card in jpg format then is it possible?

I am confused about the various supported formats for images on Palm
OS and how one can specify programmatically about saving it. Can
someone in addition to the above questions, please explain the basic
concepts when it comes to programmatically dealing with images on Palm
OS?

Thanks for your help.

sarshah.
