If you would like to attend FAN THE FLAME, a small membership Church revitalization event to help equip your church to fan God's flame into an igniting fire, please contact Arlene Bassford or Judy Cohoon by Thursday, March 28.
WHAT: FAN THE FLAME Retreat
WHEN: April 20-22 (begins at dinner on Friday night and concludes at 10:00 am on Sunday after the morning worship service)
WHERE: Windsor United Methodist Church, White Oak, NC (near Wilmington, NC)
Dr. Tim Reaves and Windsor United Methodist Church invites your pastor and two or three key lay people from your church to come and engage in a time of renewal and learning that is aimed at helping your church Fan the Flame.
This will be a weekend retreat with worship services and workshops to equip your church with resources that will help them grow.
The areas to be covered during this weekend are:
- The Dynamics and culture of the small membership church
- Effective Preaching in the small membership church
- Excellence in Worship in the small membership church
- Missional Outreach in the small membership church
- Spiritual Formation and Discipleship in the small membership church - includes Sunday School and Bible School ideas
- Practical Evangelism and Faith Shring in the small membership church
- Healing and Wholeness in the small membership church
The cost is $150 for the church, no matter how many attend (housing included). This cost can be shared among those attending. The retreat is being underwritten by Windsor United Methodist Church, the North Carolina Conference & the Duke Endowement. There will be no further charges to your church except for the optional purchase of books from Cokesbury at the retreat. Housing will be at the nearby Days Inn.
