If you would like to participate in one of the many, many No Kings! events happening Saturday to stand up for our neighbors, our rights, and our country, here are some options, including some for those with limited mobility or who want to avoid crowds, but still make a statement. As those who've been to the earlier No Kings events know, folks are friendly and the gatherings are peaceful.
These are the main protests in St. Louis County. Bring a sign, a flag, a noisemaker. You can park in the surrounding parking lots and join the people lining the streets along these intersections.
South County: Ronnie's Plaza (5320 S. Lindbergh Blvd) - 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
West County: intersection of Manchester & Weidman in Ballwin: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
North County: Post Office (2200 N Hwy 67) Florissant: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
There will also be a rally and march in downtown St. Louis:
Aloe Plaza (1820 Market Street) - Rally at 1 p.m., March begins at 1:30 p.m.
There will be a smaller protest in Clayton across from Shaw Park - 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
From the organizers:
We will have speakers and drums and chants. This event is especially friendly for those using lawn chairs, walkers, or wheelchairs. It will be in the 200 block of S. Brentwood Blvd. in Clayton, across the street from the tennis courts in Shaw Park. Signs are encouraged!
And then, there are the OVERPASSES. To reach even more people, smaller groups will put up banners and flags on highway overpasses throughout the St. Louis area. These gatherings are good for easy in-and-out, and a few dozen people holding signs and waving at the passing vehicles can really make an impact.
Along 64/40, there will be banners at the following overpasses:
Highland NO THRONES
Bellevue NO CROWNS
Clayton Avenue NO KINGS
Oakland Avenue ICE OUT
Tamm Avenue: organizers will have flags and signs for folks to wave.
AND
I am the point person for the overpass sign along I-44 at The Hill. Please join me anytime from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (10:30 a.m. for setup). It's a footbridge (see photos below) - there's convenient parking along Pattison by Pop's Blue Moon, then an inclined path up to the bridge. Bring a chair - I'll have snacks and water!
And, if time and energy are in low supply, driving along a highway or past an intersection where No Kings! enthusiasts have gathered and waving and honking your horn is a great way to boost spirits and show support!
