Howdy Folks,

I'm working on a plan to to have some PIK-20 Canopies manufactured.

There is tooling available for use (for a fee) and a manufacturer in California that will make them.

Pretty quick preliminary lead time 4-5 weeks. Preliminary price seems reasonable.
W&W (Mecaplex) Lead time is 12-16 weeks to USA + plus shipping to you location USA.

If other folks are interested we could share in the cost for the tool usage and transportation of the tool.

Note:
Individuals ordering canopies would be responsible for pick up or making their own shipping arrangements from the manufacturer to your location.
Manufacturer is in Los Alimentos, CA

If anyone is interested let me know via my email: terryc...@comcast.net or 425-999-0879

PS: I need a canopy so that's why I'm pursuing this option.

Hi Terry,

I am interested in a new canopy for my pik 20d. Mine is still usable, but quite worn, so I would have to decide based on the final cost.

I am based in Germany, so I would have to figure out shipping and customs, too.

Can you keep me in the loop as you start to figure things out? If I can help in any way, please let me know.

Best regards,
Felix Wienke

I think you will find that Plexiweiss in Germany can do Pik 20 canopies.

The mold may still be around from the group order we did a year or two back. You can try jesica@aircraftwindshield.com to see if they still have the mold.
Hopefully they do...

Hello Felix,

You can probably buy one 'local" from Mecaplex or Plexiweiss in Germany

I'll let you know how my plan plays out.

Terry,
Would be interested in buying one for my D. Tinted if possible. I'm located in Montreal
Does anyone remember what the group purchase price was a few years ago & for how many?
I once tried a friend's B complete canopy on my D and it fit OK, but not perfect (it closed & locked).

Hi, here are the detail for the 2017 purchase.  This included some costs of moving the mold to and from the factory.

New untinted canopy: $1100 + CA tax = $1182.50

New “light smoke” tinted canopy: $1200 + CA tax = $1290.00 They can mail you a tint sample.

Sliding window with Mecaplex rails, installed $310 + CA tax = $333.25 (no "scoop")

Shipping:  they have very good rates if sent to a commercial address (try a friend).  For example, shipping from CA to Utah costs $145.  Send me your zip code and I can get a shipping quote.

International shipping:  They recommend https://www.concordiafreight.com/  and say it is much cheaper than e.g. FedEx.  You can call Concordia for a quote and give your canopy dimensions + 4 inches on every side.

And later the prices including shipping to the guys who were buying:

hello everyone,
I’m talking to Jessica at aircraft windshield Co. And was wondering if anyone else wants a new canopy at this time. I have a Pik-30 and believe the canopy is the same dimensions as a Pik-20. Anyone knows for sure?
Mecaplex and plexiweiss are 7X more expensive including shipping. So I’m really happy to have found the one in CA. How’s there optical quality?
Thank you

The PIK20E canopy does work for all the PIKs.  It's longer than B so can be cut down.
