Evening all,

I was wondering if anyone in the group had a photo of the original hold down method for the tail end of the fuselage for use when traveling to keep it from jumping up and down in the trailer.  I've attached a photo of what came with mine but I don't know if it's original or not.

It consists of two black rubber bungees sandwiched into a round dowel driven into the metal clips that hook onto the aluminum channel on the floor of the trailer.  One of the bungees has broken and I need to repair or replace this setup.

I've attached a photo of what mine looks like.

Thanks,
Keith

Mine has an eye loop on each side of the tail, with a really strong bungee that goes between. On other trailers I have done a ratchet strap instead of the bungee, and cut off the extra length. That is what keeps your fuse from moving backwards on heavy acceleration so the ratchet strap is probably a better method.....

Original was a safety harness waist strap which worked (works) well and is firm.  Fastens with the usual harness buckle, then pulls nice and tight.  Usually you can find one around the gliding club which has been removed from a glider if you are not wanting to buy new.

Surely you don’t want anything elastic which could stretch under sudden braking or acceleration

Here is the trailer  restraint that was installed on my PIK20E trailer. Ratchet straps are nice, but excess tightening could crush(?) the fiberglass. Cheers Rob
