Hello all. See attached seat detail drawing. I got in to fly my PIK 20D yesterday and a clunk/twang sort of noise happened as I sat down, also the seat back suddenly moved backwards.
I got out and found a piece of broken material from where the seat pulley is mounted. Investigation revealed that it seems the pulley has become loose due to fibreglass failing to hold it in place. I judged the glider unsafe to fly.
Has anyone out there repaired one of these, please tell me about it.
For all with a 20D, start worrying. If this had happened in flight then loss of control and fatality springs to mind.
I have not tried repair yet but it occurs to me to abandon the seat adjustment mechanism and make my own design with aluminium ratchet type seat adjuster as seen in many other gliders. Attachment to the seat back and crossbar behind seems likely simple and avoids pulley failure.
Useful comments appreciated.

There should be a spring (markd red below) that pulls the support beam down and holds the pin at 4 in place.

Safe landings,
