Pigeons Groups and Breeds indo

Some of the wild breeds of pigeons and doves you may see outside (depending on where you live) are:
Rock Dove (the normal city pigeon) - http://www.paulnoll.com/Oregon/Birds/Lik…

If it is DOMESTIC common breeds you're looking for. some of them might be:
Homing (or Racing) Pigeon - http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Pigeo…
Indian Fantail (has crest and is muffed) - http://www.angelfire.com/tx/fantailindie…
American Fantail (is plain-headed and clean-legged. Although it can have a crest, the legs will remain clean)- http://www.pigeoncote.com/lancast/lancas…
Roller (more commonly of the Birmingham strain) -http://www.angelfire.com/ca7/pigeonloft/…
A variety of Tumblers (Parlors, West of England, Short and Long Faced, etc.) -http://www.parlorroller.com/images/no339…
Kings and Carneau (used for squab production except the show versions. Kings and Carneau and very similar in appearance) - http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Pigeo…

Domestic Doves:
You must realize though, that the Rock Dove, Diamond Dove, Ringneck Dove, and all domestic pigeon breeds have several different colors and patterns (except the Diamond, it keeps the same general pattern, as does the Ringneck unless it is pied). No two pigeons look the same really.
There are also over 250 different breeds of domestic pigeons and many domestic dove breeds.
Some are more common in some places while others are more common in other places. Homing pigeons, Rollers, and Fantails (all types) are probably the most common pigeons in general around the world. Almost everyone starts out with a pair of homing pigeons or rollers since they are beautiful in the sky, easy to take care of, and homers can be raced while the rollers can be in rolling competitions. Both breeds can also be shown, which adds a little extra.

Here's some sites that will show you some of the many color and pattern variations of pigeons:

By the way, the orange headed, speckled body bird sounds sort of like a pied ringneck dove. Probably tangerine pied, but you never really know until you have a picture to look at. Until then, that's my guess unless it is just a pied, grizzled, or mottled yellow (called yellow but can look orange) pigeon of any breed.

If you'd like to know anything else about pigeon breeds or colors, or anything pigeon related in general, feel free to message me :]
If I can't help you (which I'm sure I can), then I know people who can.

Hope that helped ya! :]
