Hi Kikuta san (and Mina san also)

We need to help together to make Mood board.
Now Let's think about the concept.

[A mood board is a type of "poster design" that may consist of images, text,
and "samples of objects" in a composition of the choice of the mood board creator.]

Actually, I do not want to limited ideas into three by three ... and bla bla...
I want to put only essential photos.

Photo 1 : Eri san sit on a chair in some place where is a very good atmosphere.
then She make her feeling that very very HAPPY.
Place : Jiyu ?? im not sure....I think there are some chair aroud MUJI area in Jiyu.

Photo 2 : Sign or Information like Katsuki san showed us on that day....but I didnt desige it yet.

Photo 3 : Our draft idea photo...How can we design the final Navi-Chair.????

Photo 4 : I am thinking of one kind of photo but i do not know
it will work or not...Eri san make her feel like she is so tried in the crowed place
like on five cross in Shibuya.

Photo 5 : Map ....

Kikuta san What is your idea ? ... Is it good or not .. please make a comment...
and What is available date of Kikuta san and Eri san ... for take some photo...together.

for the other, if you have any comments,we are welcome....
I want to make it finish as soon as possible.

Thanks a lot
Bests,
Hato

Hato-san,

I recommend some places to take pictures.
1. by the new building and statue in front of Ookayama station. (Tokodai-Kuramae-kaikan)
2. wood deck in front of Honkan and Library.
3. some place in Jiyugaoka will be fine also.
What do you think.

I will wear light colored clothes and straw hat, sit on a neat and simple chair.
How about walking pleasantly?

The best day and time for me is Thursday around 3pm.

Thank you!

Minasan,

I tried to set a scenerio.
please feel free to comment on my first version.
Addintions or corrections are all welcomed.

I am a lady aged 72, living alone.
My hobby is Haiku, travelling, and chatting.
Usually, I contact my friends by telephone or cell phone. If one of them send me e-mail, I can reply to it.
Today, I have a Haiku gathering in the afternoon. Before the gathering I am to take lunch with three of my friends. I know the
address of the restaurant, but I prefer to meet them at the station then go there.

Because it was very fine today, I started a little earlier to take a walk and to do window-shopping around Jiyugaoka. I hate to
hurry avoiding to be late.
I want to go new opened cake shop today.

I reached jiyugaoka earlier than expected. The train was smooth. I have more than 1 hour before the appointed time. I reached the
cake shop easily. I bought some cookies to have with tea back home. Then I wanted to take a short rest. Out of the shop I found
simple chairs across the road. Quickly I took one.

I had some more time. I decided to go back to the station, sticking around town. As I see beside the chair, there was a simple map.
I found some interior doogs store and a book store near by. And looking up, I saw a sign that indicate the direction and distance of
the station. It is so helpful that it can be seen from a distance. In addition it looks pretty well and hence this town appears well
too.
We can know the direction for the bus stop. To know direction to toilets is a relief.
Looking around, I found several sets of chairs and directions like this. If there are these facilities all over the town, we can
walk around wothout anxiety.

After a short rest, I have 30 more minutes which is just fine. I started walking.
Occasionaly, I look aroud finding a deirection sign with some chairs, confirming the direction and distance to the station. Finally,
I reached at the station 5 minutes before the appointed time. I was very much satisfied.

It is good for health to walk this much every day. It is fun to walk in town like Jiyugaoka because window shopping is fun. I feel
much relief and happy that I can rest just when I get tired.
I would like to walk around in any town with the facilities like those found in Jiyugaoka today.
I reported the facilities to the friend when I was with them. They said it is convenient and happy to use.

Thank you!

Hato-san,

then, see you at the lobby of west9 (2F) at about 15:00.

i will be going at 15:30 for a meeting at Tokodai-Kuramae-kaikan.
if 30 minutes seems not enough, i can be there before 15:00.
How long do you expect we need?

By the way, I wonder if we can use a chair, in a way like our protptype design.
Katsuki-san, could you find something or some place shortly by tomorrow?

Thanks 4 setting the  scenario!! i'll send some comments about it in few days. Anyway it's basically well done!!

I'm afraid I can't manage the chairs by tommorow because there is a seminar in our lab tommorow so we probably need all chairs..
Sorry about that..

Katsuki-san,

oh!, it's Ok. prototype is not necessary for mood board I think.

regarding senario, i think it is fine if we can make sure each of us imagine
almost same thing by this. the one I sent last night is just one possible case.
please put your thoughts into it.

ちょっと直しました。どうぞご覧ください。
i made some changes to the english version (since we'll be presenting in english)

I am a 72 year-old female who stays alone.

Since my children and grandchildren stay far away from me, I have started to develop my interests in Haiku and travelling as a pastime.

I am scheduled to have a meeting with my Haiku friends this afternoon at Jiyuugaoka. I have arranged with 3 other friends to have lunch before meeting the others.

As always, I left my house early since I do not like to be late and make my friends wait for me. This is also because my legs have weakened due to my age and it becomes most uncomfortable when I am rushing for a meeting. After reaching Jiyuugaoka, I realized that I am early by an hour. Thus, I decided to pay a visit to the newly-opened cake shop, whereby I bought some cookies to go along with tea. By this time, my legs are very tired and to my delight, I found some colorful chairs across the street. I slowly made my way towards the seats and upon getting closer, I realized there are arrows pointing to some useful facilities like the toilet and the station. This is fantastic as I feel that I may pay a visit to the washroom after I have taken a rest. I am very happy to have resting facilities like these chairs to rest my tired feet.

Since there is still 45 minutes prior to our meeting time, I took a stroll along the streets, doing random window shopping along the way until I realized I am in an unfamiliar part of Jiyuugaoka. Thankfully, I saw some colorful chairs similar to those I had taken a rest on just now and they too have simple directions on them! I heaved a huge sigh of relief as I can easily find my way back to the station even though I am in an unfamiliar part of Jiyuugaoka. Moreover, the directions are easily identifiable from afar, and the colorful chairs formed a pretty sight. I would love to live in a place decorated with such chairs, as they make the neighborhood look livelier and picturesque. If only the neighborhood in which I stay at has such chairs too…In that case, I will go on walks more often as I do not need to fear getting lost or being unable to take a rest when I would like to. Besides, my health will improve by taking more walks too.

As I made my way back to the station, I am pleased to notice that these chairs are easily available. While I used to rely on maps to guide my way around, I am really glad to have these chairs as besides providing me with information I cannot usually find on maps, I do not worry about losing my maps simply because I do not need to bring them around.

A quick glance at my watch tells me that I am 5 minutes early for my appointment. Shortly after, my friends arrived and I told them about my new discovery today – the series of colorful and useful chairs. They are excited about these chairs, and we are now discussing on our next outing – to a town with these chairs.

Dear All,

Sorry for sketch coming late.. i couldn't make time to do.

i drew some kinds of shape so can you look through and make a comment on them, guys?

For example,
Which one do you think the best? (doesn't have to be only one)
Why?
Any idea for improving?

My idea about our product is that
1. it needs both big sign for direction and small map for detail.
2. it should be adaptable for any space
3. it shouldn't be too big.

Thanks,

Katsuki

I have some more idea that
our chair should provide space for putting some stuff of elder people.
In case of they carry many bags or many their stuffs.
In order to they do not need to bow their body to put their stuff on the floor.

Hato,

Thanks for your comment for prototyping!!
Where are you imagining for putting stuff?
next space to the chair? under the chair?

For example shape1,3,4,5, I think the spaces between chairs are available for putting stuff and shape7,8 have space under the chair which can be used for that purpose.
Or do you think it needs something like a rack?

About your photo, I wanna know what kind of mood each pictures shows. and do you have any abstract images as well??

Katsuki-san,

Thank you for your great deign work. I like them.

Regarding maps, i think it's better to put them at the side of the poll.
Because, if somebody put his/her bags on it, nobady can see maps.

Regarding bags, Hato-san's suggestion is true, but I think people can put their
bags on the chair if there is space. I prefer our chairs to be as simple as possible.

i suppose we don't have to decide to take one.

Dear All,

Otsuka-san, thanks for your comments!!!
Yes, that's true. Map should be on the side of pole.
Then I can make one more version that has the place to put people's stuff between chairs.

By the way, what do you think we need for tommorow? images of shape and???
I tried some pictures to show where to put our products. Take a look!

Jiyugaoka map.jpg - In Jiyugaoka, main shopping area is north west area and south area of station. Our site is north west area which doesn't have enough spaces for providing walking older people with some rests. Our target is older people who are walking in this area.

jiyugaoka street1.jpg to street4.jpg- We found some small open spaces along streets which are provided by each shops. This space is available for our products.

erm sorry i don't seem to have received the previous emails with katsuki's drawings.
regarding the comments and replies given, i'll like to say that i agree with otsuka-san's view to keep them as simple as possible. this is for higher usability (easier to put together, if need be). also, i gather that there is a variety of drawings provided. in which case, since our chairs are a series of street furniture that could represent each area (e.g. city, town), they need not be of a specific shape. however, for project purposes, we could decide on one type to be used as a specific study.
