The National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC) has a current staff opening for a Program and Member Services Manager. [Closing Date: June 1, 2012] NAMAC, the national service organization for the media arts, provides services and support to the media arts community and other arts organizations using media. Serving over 300 members, NAMAC is central to a network that reflects America's ethnic and geographic diversity throughout the public media environment. Our membership roster includes artist service organizations, community-based digital media and technology centers, public media (television, radio, web) broadcasters, K-12 youth media and digital literacy programs, film exhibitors and university programs, and more. NAMAC stands as the collective expression of our sector’s commitment to the media arts as a common language of a democratic society. Job Title: Program and Member Services Manager Reports to: Executive Director Job Description:The Program and Member Services Manager oversees all NAMAC programs and manages NAMAC’s membership. This position develops and implements programs that support the organizational capacity of NAMAC members and strengthens their connection to regional and national networks. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Leadership Programs- Market and coordinate NAMAC’s regional and national Leadership Institutes
- Coordinate all distance learning programs: Open Dialogue, Blog-Salon and Teleconferences
- Coordinate and manage a small technical assistance program
- Plan and manage NAMAC Regional Meetings (alternate years)
- Manage all contracts and relationships with outside consultants connected with the Capacity Building Support program and NAMAC Regional Meetings
Membership - Develop strategies for deepening current member engagement and new member recruitment
- Increase current member awareness of NAMAC membership benefits
- Ensure high quality record management and customer service for existing and potential members
- Conduct membership renewals
- Manage data entry and ensure accurate and timely entry of revenue tracking and other records
Online Community Engagement- Manage NAMAC’s communications plan
- Ensure consistency of branding, design and messaging
- Develop, coordinate, and expand NAMAC’s presence with social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Draft and send occasional press releases
- Create graphic elements for website and marketing materials
- Monitor and analyze analytics for website, online marketing, and social media usage
- Manage the maintenance and continual development of namac.org, ensuring it is effective and up-to-date
- Develop marketing and outreach contacts
- Draft, design, and send promotional materials
- Create and send monthly electronic newsletter
- Coordinate volunteer bloggers
- Manage online job bank
- Write other articles and materials as needed
Other responsibilities- Continuous management and improvement of all systems under job’s responsibilities
- Act as NAMAC representative at external events
- Perform all administrative functions relating to position
- Coordinate new programs as needed within program and members services
- Oversee book order fulfillment for NAMAC publications
- Liaison for NAMAC technology needs
Qualifications/Skills- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, arts administration, or related arts field
- Knowledge about media arts and contemporary arts practice
- Minimum 2 years experience with a record of success in communications, membership, online community management, or related field
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills
- Experience developing work plans, establishing schedules and timelines, managing multiple projects and duties simultaneously, prioritizing assignments, and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
- Vision to create and implement new initiatives
- Commitment to advancing the visual and media arts
- Willingness to travel for NAMAC business
- Experience writing articles, press releases, presentations, and other relevant communication tools
- Ability to work independently in a small office environment
- Proficiency with the Macintosh platform.
- Contact management: Filemaker and other content management systems.
- Marketing: Mail Chimp or other electronic marketing platforms
- Web: Drupal, CSS, Google Analytics, FTP
- Social media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
- Graphics: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, etc.)
