The Fabric Workshop & Museum (FWM) seeks an assistant to help in the museum's visual media department and video archive. Responsibilities include helping the head of the department with archiving, maintaining and updating an extensive (35 year collection) video archive on both tape and disk. Additionally, editing short educational documentaries detailing the artistic process at FWM and learning and applying new preservation techniques for standard and high-definition video works. Position requires physical ability to lift and install heavy electronic equipment.
Job Requirements:
• Willingness to learn past, current and cutting-edge display technologies.
• Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, and Photoshop (After Effects a plus)
• Shooting and editing documentary video using professional camera equipment (experience with Sony XDCAM-EX cameras a plus)
• Knowledge of various video and audio equipment, including professional
video projectors (DLP and LCD), monitors (plasma and broadcast), video
players (flash-based and DVD), speakers, amplifiers, mixers,
microphones, etc.
• Organizational skills and technical understanding for maintenance of video archive
• Experience working with artists or in a gallery setting helpful but not required
• Experience with database management software helpful
