First Time Screening of Big Joy, Documentary Film on San Francisco Poet James Broughton
Big Joy, the award-winning documentary homage to the late San Francisco poet and filmmaker James Broughton, will be screened at International House, 3701 Chestnut Street on Saturday evening, April 5, at 7:00.
Filmmaker Stephen Silha will be on hand to introduce “Big Joy” and answer questions.

James Broughton is an important figure in American and particularly West Coast poetry from the late 40s until his death in 1999. A highly original poet who, in addition, produced a substantial body of experimental film, his work is characterized by its combination of profound and powerful insight with ecstatic feeling.
