I have a dropbox
In the past, I simply dragged the file from the application to email and sent it to all kinds of recipients and they all managed to open the files.
Today when I do the same action they receive the file attached to the email but cannot open it
If I share the link of the file, what is DROPBOX, they click on the link, download the same file and it opens for them
Why did it change and how can I solve the problem?
It should be noted that I drag the file to the email after it has a green mark on it that it has made a backup
It should be noted that I can open the files freely and I don't get any error message
It should be noted that the recipients receive various messages regarding an error in opening the file or that the file is corrupted or that the file is not in a certain format!
I would appreciate help because all the stupid DROPBOX staff say that this is not a problem related to them, although it is definitely something related to them

Hello,
I am trying to send files to the chat completion api but having a hard time finding a way to do so. I have seen some suggestions to use langchain but I would like to do it natively with the openai sdk.
Any tips on how to do that?
Thank you
Once a file is uploaded and passed to the Assistant, OpenAI will automatically chunk your documents, index and store the embeddings, and implement vector search to retrieve relevant content to answer user queries.
Using your assistant ID and your file ID you can now interrogate your document through the Assistant API (not the chat completions API). There are many examples of how to interrogate a document through the Assistant API on these here internets.
Complete newbie question.... I feel like I saw somewhere that I can export a .exe file and send it to a client to allow them to freely maneuver around in a scene. I sent the file to my client and they were not able to open the file. Is there a download that they need to do before they can access the file?
Hey rgibbs , so generally the client's machine needs to meet our system requirements accordingly. Furthermore, if they are actually being met, then could you please further detail what you mean by "were not able to open the file" exactly? Perchance they received an error message you could share a screenshot of? They can also definitely make sure that their graphics card drivers are up to date as well.
I will see if I can get a screenshot of their exact error message and will share it if I can. I did a test with an old Mac computer of mine last night and I received an error message saying that the graphics cared didn't meet the system requirements. So, it sounds like from your response as well as my own personal error message that it will really just come down to whether or not the client's system is capable of running the .EXE file, right?
Exactly. Most of the time this is the case indeed. Thank you in advance for sending me a screenshot of the other error message if possible - feel free to simply let me know what it says instead too, but I strongly suspect that either the graphics card drivers are outdated, or that the machine(s) do not meet our requirements.
This allows you to upload a whole project/scene into the cloud and make it navigate-able via a browser, so the usual Enscape system requirements do not even have to be met. Check it out and let me know in case the client experiences any problems with that.
This has been an ongoing issue for a lot if my customers over the past six months. Through the new etsy seller app and the standard buy from etsy app, several buyers have reported that when I sent pdf files through messenger (many do not have access to a computer to download digital files) they are unable to click to open them. They click the preview and it just opens a the image as a preview--not the whole pdf file (so a cut off preview image of file).
I tested myself through my apps, and while I can click and view files from the etsy app my end, I can't via the new sell on etsy app. I also can not open files through messages on my Samsung devices.
None of the Etsy apps offer file download capability (nor upload, except for listing photos within the seller app). This includes the in-app messaging function. Lots of us digital sellers have provided Etsy with plenty of feedback on this point, so far to deaf ears. It would help enormously if they at least put a message to buyers within the app itself that downloads must be made from a web browser, but apparently this is too much to ask. Not even their much-hyped, brand-new seller app has been given this functionality.
Everywhere possible, I advise customers they must download using a web-browser, and NOT the Etsy app. (You might want to look at one of my listings to see how I use the personalization feature to alert buyers, and I also have this info in my message to buyers.). This has helped a LOT with this problem within my shop, but I worry about how many buyers get confused (because they don't read) why "personalization" applies to a quilt pattern and then don't complete their order. A few folks do message me to ask, but I fear they may be a small percentage.
I've also noticed an uptick in recent weeks of buyers asking me to email the patterns to them. Not sure if it indicates any particular change on Etsy's side with download functionality, or if it's within reasonable statistical variation over time.
As far as I know digital files must be opened through a browser. None of the Etsy apps allow files to be opened. Whenever I send a duplicate copy of a file to a customer through the message system I always tell them they have to open the file using a browser.
I also wish this would be fixed. I send PDF proofs of customers design before we go to print. They use to be able to open the PDF through the app to view it but now, since one of the updates, it only shows them a super downgraded jpg preview with no ability to open the actual PDF. So many customers complain that the proof is blurry or pixelated because of this.
Post again if that doesn't solve it and we'll look at Windows file associations in detail. Creo associates itself with files with extensions from .1 to .250+, but it's usually only the .1 files that become disassociated.
There's more though, because if you're opening files in this way then you have to be aware of your Creo sessions. If you open a file from Windows Explorer with the wrong command, you'll get it opening in a separate session of Creo - something that you probably don't want.
Of course, fixing this on your computer won't help the person you're sending the file to. I would simply ask them to use the file > open command in Creo. Something you'd hope they could figure out. Remember to use a short file name and omit any spaces or special characters. I prefer to send exported files as it is software agnostic and prevents any errors that might occur as a result of regeneration (due to missing references etc).
We have just upgraded from Wildfire 5.0 to Creo 2.0 M050 and file associations seem to be broken, we didn't uninstall wildfire 5.0 first and i'm wondering if this has caused the problem? all the instance files come up with a non Creo2.0 icon as though they are broken??
File associations are linked to specified "token" in the system, which in turn has a defined path to application which should open given file extension. You can change it quite easily with command line. Run cmd.exe and type ftype proeFile and it should list a path for proe.exe along with attribute used to pass file being opened. It should look like this:
Most of the time when I send a PDF to someone they either have loading issues when trying to open my email or they simply cannot view my PDF. Usually the message in the body isn't even present. When I send the same email to myself on iCloud I can view it in iCloud.com or my iPhone. This seems to happen when the receiver is using Thunderbird, Outlook, and others. This is a serious inconvenience for a paid service. I have to send all emails that include PDFs through my work email address which I would rather not do. I tried turning on Unicode but that didn't help. Don't know what else to try.
iCloud is so buggy when it comes to this. This is just my opinion and I know it will not help your current problem. It would be in your interest to use gmail as your primary email account. I see iCloud email service as a makeshift tack-on addition by Apple to their syncing services. It wasn't made to be an email client and doesn't function properly as such. Use Gmail. People may disagree, but this is just my input. I hope another community member may have a definitive answer to your problem.
Apple does not require payment anymore for this service but I do pay for upgraded storage which is a must in my case. I have been paying for this service since before MobileMe. Only when it switched to iCloud did it become "free". Anyways, this is off-topic and the issue still occurs whether I'm paying for it or not.
I hired a freelancer to create a SketchUp file for me. He sent it to me. But the only way to open it is a link. I have always been able to open files with SketchUp viewer. I also downloaded a newer Viewer. He said his is 2018. a pop up always appears that asks me to open in the Schools app. But I cannot add the Schools app.
what am I doing wrong? this has taken hours and now two days. it was suppose to be a quick and easy help for my design work!
