Running Android apps on Windows PC has become officially available with Windows 11. However, the whole installation process is complicated and tricky even with Windows Subsystem for Android. IObit Uninstaller made it so much easier to install Android apps on Windows 11 PC. Simply drag an APK file onto the APK Installer and it will be installed automatically without any additional steps. Besides, the Android apps you installed can be quickly uninstalled with IObit Uninstaller as well.

"If you need a program that lets you cleanly and completely uninstall applications, fire up IObit Uninstaller. This free utility makes it a breeze to delete apps, including stray files that are often left behind when you use Windows to delete software from your hard drive or SSD. Competing free tools, such as Comodo Programs Manager and Revo Uninstaller, perform similar functions, but IObit Uninstaller bests those rivals with its community-based suggestions and ability to remove annoying Web browser toolbars and plug-ins. In short, if you use a Windows PC, you should download IObit Uninstaller to uninstall applications."

"I have used IObit programs for years with great effect ! For this reason I stay with IObit products.I, in the past have serviced and fixed laptops and mobiles (android) and always leave them, with IObit products installed, and ask them to regularly 'hit the big' C' and tell them it will automatically fix and speed up their laptop/computer/mobile! :)I highly recommend the uninstaller (and the latest beta) as a safe reliable program that shifts stubborn programs! Most importantly, remove 'hidden' coding that the programmer intended to leave, which then brings adverts to re-install again!IObit 'ALL' products are safe' and easy to use' most of all look after your PC's."

"I find IObit uninstaller excellent to use as it has all you could wish for. I love the fact that it uninstalls all the left over fragments. It also has a software updater which reminds you when one of the programs need updating, and the fact that it will uninstall batch programs really makes it a winner. In fact it is basically just what one needs to keep your computer good to go."

"IObit Uninstaller is the best software to remove programs on the computer, it is fast and very effective it does not compare anything with basic uninstaller of windows, it seriously cleans all the rest of the program and so there are no delays in the computer. I have been using it for a few months and I do not know how to live without it, I recommend it to my friends and family. Thanks IObit Uninstaller is fantastic."

I'm downloading and installing the Linux version of the SDK today and I read through the README.md and setup.sh script just to verify that everything was above board. I liked what I saw for the installation process, but I noticed that there was no real capability for cleanly uninstalling the software in the download package.

I saw that there's an existing thread for uninstalling the SDK on Steam Deck, but the advice there is simply to delete the SDK folder and a few other files by hand. This wouldn't address reverting the udev rules that the setup.sh script sets, and perhaps there are other things that would be missed too. To have a complete and clean uninstall, a Linux user would have to reverse-engineer the setup.sh script, and then undo each step.

Undoing the steps may not be that hard, but I think it would reflect a more responsible app deployment to also include an uninstaller script of some kind for Linux. Please let me know if you have any more refined or recent advice for uninstalling the Playdate SDK on Linux.

Eventually we'd like to move setup to flatpak or some other package. However, an uninstaller would be a nice. With the udev rule specifically, some users would already have that set up and we wouldn't want to undo that change blindly so we'd need some sort-of state tracking which would require more that what we have now. Thanks for the feedback!

It works, except for the udev rule and (presumably) connecting to a device. Alas, I, don't have a device to test with just yet. But my plan for that would be a note in the README about how to add the necessary udev rule on the host. Could provide a bash script that adds the necessary system configuration, and adds a flatpak override allowing date.play.simulator to access arbitrary devices.

Other than that, I'm maybe 90% happy with it. Should be possible to build and run the thing on any Linux desktop with flatpak available. The manifest file tells a lot of it, but I'd be happy to provide some notes about what issues I ran into. We could get to "good enough" with, I think, relatively easy fixes on the Simulator end

Interesting! As you've found, Flatpak is a bit too restrictive for doing things like installing a udev rule (and perhaps even reading the serial port, I haven't gotten that far in my investigation). On the other hand, I've successfully created a .rpm file for Mirror and will be looking at .deb this week (which I'd bring over to the Sim). I know flatpak is the cool way to go, but given the OS integration issues it might be simpler to go native packages for now.

For what it's worth, the device=all sandbox hole should be enough for reading a serial port. It means an application like GNOME Software will end up showing a scary warning label (since that's a pretty big sandbox hole), but I don't think anyone would be shocked to find a development tool needing to do scary things. There is sort of a desire to make a thing over here: Add USB device access portal Issue #227 flatpak/xdg-desktop-portal GitHub. But, eh.

The weirdest frustration for me with the flatpak was figuring out how to appease the Simulator writing files under SDK_DIR/Disk (even when SDK_DIR isn't writable). I imagine that is something you'll end up solving nicely building a DEB or an RPM as well since those same files will end up off limits, so, I'm definitely looking forward to that since I'll be able to remove that awkward wrapper script

The only Windows uninstaller you need to completely uninstall any app, either legacy or latest versions, and clean up leftover files & entries in just a few clicks - so you can effectively reclaim drive space, fix install/uninstall problems, improve startup & app response speed, and the overall performance of your Windows device.

The only Windows uninstaller you need to completely uninstall any app and clean up leftover files and entries in just a few clicks - so that you can get your Windows device up and running normally again. The typical uninstall process is not working as it should be. App developers pack everything like app files, Registry entries & commands into a Windows installer with .exe extension. However, the operating system does not monitor or record where these files or services to be installed, what settings or Registry entries are going to be added or changed, or dictates the way the app is going to run. And it is the responsibility of the developers for app removal and cleanups. In most cases, the official uninstaller included & installed during the installation is good enough to remove most things it has created and changed, with only a few empty folders or entries that are simple for everyone to remove. However, apps do not ship with a well-built uninstaller, resulting in messy issues like corrupted files, loads of leftover files & error messages, and causing system slowdown, longer bootup time & slow program response and instability issues.

Privacy and affordable pricing should be essential for everyone. Privacy and security can't be a bargaining chip or compromised features for you to ignore. You might have tried the so-called free cleaners and utilities to clean up or fix the messy issues. However, most of these tools are loaded with ads, bundled with or upsell to other apps, with or without your consent. As a result, your device is at the risk of privacy infringement and even security breach like being hacked. Alternatively, if you go for some paid solutions, you might be realizing most of the paid tools are charging a fee for a pro license with high pricing plans, and require you to renew the license every month or every year, or ask you to pay for version upgrade every few years. That is a high cost for every user to maintain utility tools for Windows devices.

Total Uninstaller is the state-of-art uninstaller designed to remove unwanted Windows apps effectively and completely. It is simple and safe to use, and the streamlined features enable you to maintain a better Windows device state by effectively removing unused/unwanted apps, associated leftover files like registry entries and installed services completely and safely, without being worried of incorrectly deleting wrong items or causing system malfunction. The complete removal resolves the errors caused by incomplete uninstall, like the app can't be installed due to a previous installation or the app can't be uninstalled without the Uninstall button at the Apps and Features. The newly-added tools come in handy to free up your disk space and tidy up your desktop: Shortcut Cleaner used to find and delete invalid desktop shortcut items, and Folder Cleaner used to locate empty folders in the app's installation directory.
