In 1991, MCA Records Canada released Morissette's debut studio album Alanis, which went Platinum in Canada.[15] Her second album Now Is the Time sold a little more than half the copies of her first album.[16][17] With her two-album deal complete, Morissette was left without a recording contract. In 1993, Morissette's publisher Leeds Levy at MCA Music Publishing introduced her to manager Scott Welch.[18] Welch told HitQuarters he was impressed by her "spectacular voice", her character and her lyrics. At the time she was still living with her parents in Ottawa. Together they decided it would be best for her career to move to Toronto and start writing with other people.[18]

Jagged Little Pill still stands up as a landmark album 20 years later. The themes it expresses are timeless and well-worth revisiting. Rhino's compelling Collector's Edition is very thoughtfully produced and should be an easy buy for huge Morissette fans. However, if you are a little more value-conscious, the 2-CD set (especially with the Target bonus tracks) contains the best parts of the reissue (the original album remaster and the demos) so you may want to seek that out instead. But, if you are fan of the album or want to discover for the first time just what all the fuss was about, either version is well worth your effort to acquire.

I just recently downloaded the 4 disc collectors edition from iTunes music and I must say it's very well done not from rhinos perspective but from Alains morresttes perspective. The 10 unreleased demos are a cool look into what could've been on jagged little pill like the closer you might Believe now that's a catchy tune its country sounding but still has a beat to it. No Avalon is rather dark but shows off here voice and how powerful it can be.
Now I do have a few nid picks about this set. I love the whole disc of unreleased demo songs and the live concert disc but I felt needing a acoustic disc was really not needed while it's great to hear acoustic version of pill you can buy it sepreate for years. Maybe rhino could of added a second concert instead or a second disc of unreleased music but I understand this is what Alanis wanted and it's her choice why not it's her music which I really hope Alanis had a say so in what went in this collection cause it makes the music better when a artist has a voice and say so what songs go in the final print of the sets. And to have Alanis be really open like that and let us hear music that was kept a secret for years which I understand why is a blessing to have. It means Alanis is being more open to letting her fans hear the rare unleased music that maybe she was afraid to let us hear or felt it wasn't here best work or maybe alanis just wasn't ready to open her personal world to us all these years. But now she's ready and I thank Alanis for opening up her vault of music. Maybe down the road more unheard music might be opened up to us as long as she's willing to. In the end jagged little pill will allways be my favorite Alanis album it's how I got stared with enjoying her music and I was only 13 back then when this album was released and her music spoke to me songs like perfect was a tear jerker for me trying to make my parents proud of me during school while also being bullied and picked on at school during that time so that song perfect really spoke to me. Overall A+ album great job Alanis.
