I am sure this has been answered several times, but I can't find it.

1) When booting the Raspberry Pi it starts in graphics mode, not in terminal, how to change that?
2) I am unable to get it to communicate using PL2303. Do I need to make any changes to the defaults in the Raspberry Pi?

The key is you need to think in terms of the RPi before you think about the PiPD-8/10/11
Internet search is your friend (look up raspberry pi  serial boot)

But since I know how to do by memory, I'll save you a little
  • Put the RPi SD card iInto a computer that can read the FS on it
  • In the root/boot directory edit the config.txt [use a real tex edit like vi/emacs not MSWord]
  • Append: enable_uart=1 to the end of the file and save it
  • Remove the SD card, and put the card back into the Pi and attach a serial console/you local computer via an RS-232 port
  • set the baud rate to 115200
  • On the local system, using a program like Mac's Serial, Windows Putty of Linux "minicom" connect to the local systems computer port
  • power the RPi and you should be good

Setup and PL2303 Serial Console on your Raspberry PI 3Bhttps://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=148208

In a terminal do
sudo raspi-config

and choose
system options
-  Boot / Auto login
   - Console auto login

Next time you boot and remote login with e.g putty you will be welcomed in the PDP-11 console.

I mean PDP-8 of course, but the same config applies to the PiDP-11
