I was fine with the case when I only had the 8.  Then the 11 came out with a better looking case.  And then of course the 10 came out with a fantastic looking case.  I was no longer satisfied with the brown wood case on the 8.  So I have been attempting to 3d print a replacement.  I looked at a picture of a real 8i front panel and noted the silver around the edge so added that too.  I am not a CAD expert (not even close).  I use TinkerCad, Blender, and FreeCad but not very well.  What I laid out was too big to print as one unit.  So I had to split it in half which bugs me as the seam is very noticeable on top.  Here is a picture of what I have currently.  It's not perfect.  Only the plastic front panel is in place and not the actual board with lights and switches.  This was to make sure the front fit.  There are no standoffs in it yet as I forgot to put them in.  It looks "Ok" to me but I think it could be lots better.

Looks interesting. Would it be possible to put the joint on the sides rather than on the top? That might help hide it better as the top is generally more obvious than the sides. Better yet, would it be possible to make the top and sides be one piece and the bottom be the other piece? That way the joints would be along the bottom corner edges? Or, could each of the top, side, and bottom be separate pieces that snap together and somehow hide the joints at each of the 4 corner edges?

Believe me I have tried this in many positions.  It almost fits on a 45 angle on the base.  But not quite.  Scrunching it in depth a few mm does make it fit.  My best shot I think is to remove the top and make that a separate piece.  This was no supports are needed (well except for the cutout in the back).  I have not tried this yet.  Any time printing with the top on requires supports as there is nothing beneath it to build on.  So it makes it more interesting to print.
