TSS/8 not starting cleanly

I decided to rebuild my system and before trying the latest 'bleeding edge' version, did a full rebuild using the instructions at https://obsolescence.dev/pidp-8-quick-install.html (Recipe 3).

All appears OK, and OS/8 runs cleanly. However, when I try to initialise TSS/8 using IF=2/Sing-Step, I get the same symptoms as described in an earlier post at https://groups.google.com/g/pidp-8/c/3aarnmpQXV8/m/XwBs1UcIAgAJ

That is, something is running, but there is no initial startup prompt from TSS/8.
On opening a new session on port 4000, there is nothing.

I also tried ETOPS (IF=6/Sing-Step). In that case the primary console appears to be OK, and a new session on port 4000 gives the message "Connected to the PDP-8 simulator TTIX device, line 0", but it does not respond to input.

Am I missing a setp here, or is there something else I should look at? Thanks.
Geoffrey.

Can you ssh to your raspberry pi, execute pidp8i and watch the output while you execute the steps that you indicated? What do you see?

I had the same problem, which I fixed by switching to a newer version of SIMH.

Search for the thread "Problem booting TSS/8 (again...)" which may help.

Thanks for the feedback.
Update:

I have found that if I use "Recipe 1" on   https://obsolescence.dev/pidp-8-quick-install.html then all works as anticipated.
But using the source specified in "Recipe 3" results in the symptoms I have described earlier.

Not sure if that indicates a different version of SIMH, but it does give me a path to a working system. Thanks again.

Flavio, FYI: The output from the two versions is identical, except that one continue to the TSS "LOAD, DUMP, START, ETC?" prompt and the other just hangs and does not respond.

Very good! Recipe 1 uses the most up to date sources, which is what you want anyway. Glad it's resolved!

If you can recreate the TSS-8 hang, please let us know what the Program Counter lights (top row) look like when it hangs. That might tell us something about the reason behind the hang.
